ASA vs VTD umpires, which is better?

by N-V-Us » Sun May 01, 2011 6:26 am

Since the creation of VTD, it seems that the quality of umpires has gone down. VTD needs to do something to create a better understanding of the rules with their umpire pool. Has anyone else has had any poor experiences?

Indeed I have! I experienced the same when these same umpires were wearing an ASA hat.

I am not going to get into it with Joe on the boards anymore.

ASA has an easy website and registration is less than it used to be. Check it out.

www.tournamentasa.com

I know we have enjoyed some really good tournaments this year and they don't seem to run 2hrs behind (without weather delays)

Southlake yesterday:
Felt like we were stuck in the movie The Naked Gun. Blue was yelling "strike" before the pitch ever reached the plate. It was really funny when the ball would be put into play and the blue was in the middle of yelling "strike". The only thing missing this weekend was the blue doing the splits after a called third strike. Oh yea, he tried it once, but in the middle of his splits, the ball was hit into play......

Ok Ken, I might engage if you can tell me why VTD is calling every coach listed on VTD for investment? Very intersting. I don't recall ASA ever doing that.
I don't know how conflict of interest would work with coaches having a financial stake in VTD. I think it would be worse than the " Good Ole Boys" of ASA

Was also an observer at the Southlake tournament yesterday where I saw numerous umpires making crazy calls on different fields. Just based upon my observation it just seems as if every tournament that i have been to seems to have the same issues with umpires lately. I will give them that there will always be a couple of questionable calls that someone will not agree with but this is getting ridiculous! I feel very sorry for the girls having to play with these type of inconsistency's with rules and the coaches for their frustration in trying to play a fair game!

Is Asa still holding tournaments in dfw? Haven't seen one outside of Mansfield in a long time.
