I see the avengers baker have nothing scheduled til November---1 college exposure--everything else has been dropped----can we say break up?

Did the awesome restructuring job finally pay it's toll on yet another "well coached" team?

When are these organizations goint to learn to quit screwing up a good thing?

Lori, sometimes it is necessary to retool or reshuffle teams because not all players grow at the same pace. Sometimes it is necessary to combine players with similiar goals for the future. I know that Diane Baker is a fine coach, I know very few kids or parents from the Avengers team but maybe the team didn't share mutual goals. I would not speculate as to why they may not be together any longer.

This is not a good time of the year to shuffle teams, in years past with Texas Glory we would shuffle the teams in the club in August. This was the time where players could try out to play on different Glory teams and maybe make a move for more playing time on another team or maybe a kid would be ready for the call to the Gold team or the top team in the age bracket. Change is always hard, but it is necessary in order to grow.

Just some observations (& hear say)...

Schutt Avengers Baker problems are/were that they never were an Avengers team. They were still Coppell Courage. Baker tried to develop the team. Maybe the CC group resisted change. Maybe the CC group had inner turmoil. Maybe the CC group still wanted to do their own thing & not the organization's thing. By the way, this is the 2nd time this year that this team has "broken up".

Saw on vtd that she is now with Texas Elite...so is this just the re-badging of the same team, taking over a current Texas Elite team, or is she starting a new team altogether?

While I know that Baker and also Segal (Gold) are successful coaches, I just have not seen either of these teams have much success. I know several parents who have paid $$$$s to be on these teams and literally go two and out almost every weekend. However, I must say that the players are getting signed at a higher rate than most other teams.

Good luck to Tx Elite. Maybe JD & HB can control the situation whereas the former organization's management was unable to. Someone else needs to confirm this, but I would seriously doubt if former Avengers are going to follow the coach to the Tx Elite. I suspect that Tx Elite is rebuilding on their own just like everyone else is at this time of year. Baker was either "let go" or "quit" her position with Avengers. Maybe it was a mutual agreement. JD saw it as an opportunity for his organization. Hope it works out for them.

As to the number of players being signed.... has nothing to do with the coaching staff. That is the accomplishment of players and parents marketing themselves. And can have some to do with the organization they play within. Sorry, but name recognition accounts for something.

In spite of the large "participation fees" that those Avenger parents paid, many of them were more concerned about what food to bbq at tournaments than about the development of the team. Therefore the phrase most associated with that group ... "let's go 2 & bbq".

Hmmmm? Tx Elite parents, will you now have the LARGE participation fees? bc someone will need to pay Baker's salary? Maybe. Will Avengers high fees go down? Probably not.
