I notice no times toward the end of the tourny in 16u. Is this going to be another tourny where as soon as the berths are made, they cancel the rest? I understand why they do this but shouldn't it be up to the teams as to whether they want to play it out or not? I'm not bi**ching or anything but these are the kind of things that I would like to know before we enter.

Edit: I noticed it does say on VTD that the tourn stops after the top 4 are made. I was only looking at the PGF site.

What else would you call it?

It's hard not to notice a few teams in this event that are gonna get spanked early and often. Hopefully...the run (mercy) rule will be in place...

Geeee...Well if they do, I sure hope the softball Gods will forgive them for entering such a competetive tournament. Shame on them.

I know ASA, VTD, and now PGF does this and has been this way in ASA for sometime now. I just think that it should be up to the teams. Some teams leave as soon as they get their berth but some would probably like to play it out. That's all I'm saying. I guess no one else feels that way sooo...my bad.

I never said that I was experinced but since you know my experince level now, don't tell anyone....please.

There's a difference between being competitive and being embarrassed. Hopefully those who are doomed to the latter will have understanding parents who don't mind seeing Suzie getting it handed to her...

No there's not. You win or you lose. You may win by a lot or you may lose by a lot. If there is a difference to you and you're going to be embarrassed then you may as well quit. Some of these teams already know where they are going for nationals and some may haven't qualified for anything. To the ones that know, this is basically an expensive practice so it really doesn't matter that much. They are just there for the games.

Observations through 1/2 of day 1:
1:30 finish the batter pools games are running 15-60 mins behind on any given field.
(finish the batter should NEVER run behind)
Umpires seem to have no sense of urgency.
(I thought pool games were about playing and getting some live ABs before the "real" tourney begins. Apparently that message was not convayed to this group of umpires)
It's 104 outside and water isn't provided?! (REALLY?! At some point safety has to come before concession profits. Already have seen 1 umpire fall out)

If the umpires and TD (Kevin!) don't find a sense of urgency tomorrow those 7 inning bracket games are going to take 3 hours! (When was the last time anybody played a mandatory 7 in 103 heat. It's one thing to get 7 in during 1:30 finish the inning bc it's a quick game. Quite a different story to mandate 7 especially with the lakadazical attitude that has been displayed by the umpires thus far. This would be why there are no game times posted for the later games bc WHO KNOWS?!!)

I LOVE PREMIER!! I have enjoyed how well they run tourneys. It's a breath of fresh air compared to the ASA cluster!!
This tourney has been the exception rather than the rule.
Guess this is our punishment for not qualifying in Houston (Jonathkn ran, as always, an AMAZING tourney with 3 times as many teams!! No my kid doesn't play for one of his teams)

Hope everything gets straightened out before tomorrow. Even college coaches were commenting on the high level of clutter eff-ness!
