"Best Of 12U/14U" Friendlies - who will schedule?

Ok, throughout June, July and into Nationals there was a lot of talk about "wouldn't it be great if someone did invitational friendlies in the fall and spring that would include only the top teams in the state". We all have open calendars, the ability to pick and choose tournaments, and time to set travel budgets.

How about it TD's? Where are the friendlies? Please help us not have the same discussions in July 2009!

In 2006 the "Best of Texas" round robin was held in Austin, not sponsored by a team. The top 10U teams in the state (95 Glory, TPS, 95 Groove, 95 Elite, RR Blaze, etc.) were all there, invitation only. I think there were 6-8 games played over the weekend. Nothing like it has happened since, to my knowledge. Sure would be nice to do something like that again.

I am seeing RR's in Houston for the fall and I know our coach is planning to play as many RR's as we can in Fall as opposed to tournaments. (Ex RedHots 97 hosting Sept 20-21 in Baytown) Dallas teams are welcome to come down here and play with us and let us know if they do anything in Dallas.

Groove hosted the Best of 95 Friendly in the spring of 2006.

Coastal Elite hosted in the fall of 2006 and fall of 2007, but did not get much participation from outside of the Houston area.

As of now we are not planning on hosting one this fall.

I have wondered if the Central & North Texas 12U and 14U Teams would be interested in travelling to Houston for a "Best of Texas" Fall tournament. This would be an invitation only tournament unless we could not field enough teams. We were thinking of Nov 14 - 16th. Who should be invited? Coaches are you interested? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome?

14U, Coastal Elite for sure, and I thinkk we could get TLC from Brazoria County.

I also think we could get TPS 95, Texas Kaos 95 and probably the Houston Power. What about Central Texas and North Texas teams?
