The Fort Worth Batbusters prides itself on being one of the premier fast pitch softball organizations in the Southwest. During its 15 year history Batbusters has enjoyed success at the highest levels of girls fast pitch softball and has helped develop hundreds of girls into great softball players and fine young ladies by stressing hard work hard play fundamentals discipline teamwork respect and sportsmanship.
Virtually every girl who has played on an 18U Batbusters team over the past 10 years has received an offer to play college softball on scholarship.

To help ensure that Batbusters continues its tradition of success the Batbusters Board of Directors has made some recent policy changes. Effective immediately Batbusters will not approve any new team in any age group if that new team would result in Batbusters having more than three teams in that age group. Moreover Batbusters teams will play at the higher levels of competition with all 8U and 10U teams playing B or higher all 12U 14U and 16U teams playing A caliber or higher and at least two 18U teams playing Gold with the remainder playing A. In an era of expanding franchises and teams Batbusters has elected to stick to its core competencies.

I can't see this being anything other than positive for this organization. They have taken multiple hits on here and at the ballpark. I am not a part of them and am still glad to see them protect their name and possibly re-establish their reputation. I think they currently have too many, but at least the team/girls in there are grandfathered.

Now we know that Glory, Fusion, and Batbusters at least have forward-moving plans. Good for you!

I for one hope they get back to the roots they once established when we played for them.

Honestly, I think it is too little too late..the damage is done, and it will be 3 yrs minimum before they gain any respect in North Texas. Way too many B teams in the organization now, and unless they boot them out, they will stick around for years riding the coat tails of what the batbabybusters used to be years ago.

They say that money is the root of all evil...I believe it whole heartedly, and the batbabybusters are a perfect example....was the money really worth ruining the name Ken...really?

I agree with you Lori. I for one would have never let it get that far. And two, if I did, I would have fixed it in a mass "layoff" at the end of the spring season with plenty of notice. Or maybe do a year probation-type thing and he who has the most points, wins one of those 3 spots.

Who knows what was discussed in their meeting. It may take a few years to be "that" organization again, but at least it's a step in the right direction. I also like that he did it publicly.

Could you imagine if Montoya and McClasky would have left? Even Rhine's 14 team? I would say they get a big thank you for sticking it out.

How many of these teams qualified for and played at ASA national tournaments? That should be the measuring stick for all of these mega clubs. I could probably look it up but someone likely already knows how many of the Fusion, AXE, Avengers, Glory, Elite and BB teams made it.

We're still waiting on your reply to which one of the 'Not Gold' teams you belong to...in light of the fact that you were booted from one of those evil, watered down BB teams.

Any organizations that lets all those crappy kids play ball has got to be the worst?? That's the thinking, right LORI?

BTW, I know Ken. He's a retired fireman who makes a little money teaching pitching lessons, doesn't make any money from his College Showcase in October (by invitation only, with about 30 teams on the waiting list, $150 per team), charges his BB teams a $100 fee for the year to cover admin. costs, end of the year parties, accounting, etc. Other than that, he devoted about 30 years to the sport, the vast majoirty of it donated time!

He just sounds like a terrible guy, doesn't he LORI??? He should be banned from softball!!! Right LORI???

Behindtheplate....In answer to your posting, I would differ with your putting Fusion in the category of "mega club". Last summer, we had a 12U, 2-14U, and an 18Gold team. Our 12U team went to southern nationals(1st year team), our 14U(mendez) team went to nationals in Midland(1st year team), our 14U(Mork) team went to HOF and Midland(2nd year team), our 18Gold team went to nationals in Ok. City. For 2009, we are going to have a 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18Gold. Not sure that qualifies as a mega club, especially compared to glory, BB, elite, and some of the other organizations nationwide. But in my view, every group is entitled to grow how they want. We, as parents, are supposed to make decisions based on what we feel is best for our kids and family. I, for one, feel North Texas would be a lot more competitive on the national stage if we weren't as diluted. I feel that as long as ego's and the desire for the DD to be the best player at her favorite position rules over the concept of TEAM, that will be a continuing problem. But to each their own!

Ken....you must be BB parent.The truth is the truth.

I could be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge the BB have not been to ASA in a very long time. Centex teams have qualified for nationals 5 times more then the BB.

I do not know Ken, and I am assuming that he is the head of the BB.

It seems like he has acted like ALL mega org, top men.

In the beginning, a few teams played very well, so they add a few more teams.

Then it becomes about money. The dues slowly go up with them saying that it will peak at $150/ 6months out of the year, then it goes to 12 months out of the year. After a year or so, its $250 a month, all year long.

At this time, they have forgot what made there organization good from the start and it is all about the money. They forget about nationals and start putting all of their time into hosting tournaments.

How much do the mega club, top dogs get paid? There is alot of money going in these clubs.

The 501 3c tags that these clubs have received from the government is a joke.
