Bombers Shootout Tournament

by taking2 » Sat Mar 02, 2013 1:49 pm

Does anyone know what is going on with this tournament? The draw was delayed, there is a rumor there will be 2 brackets per age group and there are teams dropping! Our coach says she emails the td and gets no reply.

This is now a DOUBLE ELIMINATION tournament. Teams that lose their first two bracket games will drop down into a "winner-takes-all" consolation bracket.

This is on their website. Also coach was emailed about the change from Thursday to Sunday for the draw. I think its pretty cool to do this.

Through a blind draw, teams will be placed into brackets. The blind draw will be streamed live via the Internet currently scheduled to be held on Feb. 27th at 7:00pm Sunday, March 3rd at 7:00pm. It will be broadcasted live via the Internet on the Texas Bombers UStream Channel: Bomber Shootout Channel.

In 12u and 14u there are 2 brackets. One bracket for PGF and one for the regular shootout. In 12u most of the better teams won't be playing in the PGF bracket. Apparently an issue related to $$$.

Basically my understanding is that since this became a premier qualifier, the PGF required every girl to be PGF registered and for the teams to have PGF insurance. The girls registration is $13 per kid. Then the insurance for the team. That was roughly an extra $200 for each team. Add to that entry fee and ump fees and you are talking quite a bit of cash...

Many teams had no desire to attend PGF and would have likely opted out of playing entirely, so in order to accomodate everyone, the teams interested in the birth to PGF are in one bracket and had to register their teams with PGF. The remainder were put in the Shootout bracket which I assume will play under ASA rules as it has before.

Now if they would just post the times and fields the world would be a good place...

Bombers pull Corona Angels first bracket! Where does Corona stand in comparison to Firecrackers-Quarles (Cerritos), Cal-Lite (Corona), Quakes (Mira-Loma) and Power Surge (San Deigo)

If the Glory, Impulse, Firecrackers and Bomber 12nd year 12's are in the PG bracket then who are the better teams in the other bracket?

Stingers, Austin Finest, Tapout 01, Blaze Red and Fully Loaded all field highly competitive teams.
