looks like we might be making the big move this summer and havnt decided on san aton or austin...guess ill go where the softball is strongest...best high school programs in either city? best club softball yeam in either? do teams workout during high school...taking an info trip in april and wanna narrow down choices...

More teams from the Central Texas Area made it further in the play-offs than SA schools.......etc Bowie, Dripping Springs, Vista Ridge.
Then you have Select teams......Storm, Stix and Blaze vs. Hitt, Challngers, Royals, Bombers. Question yo ask is.......who develops the best. You know, helps your kid get better

If you want organized ball clubs, the only ones I would probably lean towards would be the Austin Storm, Texas Blaze, NB Bombers and the Stix.
You would think since San Antonio is so much bigger than Austin that they would have many more programs but they do not. Both areas have about the same level of talent but I think the Austin teams strive for ASA Nationals more consistently than San Antonio.

AUSTIN.....you can't beat it for softball or all the other outdoor activities that are here.
1) Some great high school programs. Bowie (been to state the last two years and Blaire Luna is a Texas signee), Vista Ridge is in far north Austin and loaded with talented kids.
2) Texas Blaze (among others) is a wonderful select program. Their Gold team went to Gold ASA Nationals last year and did pretty good. Tied for 25th with a 2-2 record. There are currently ex-Blaze players at Georgia Tech, Alabama, and Stephen F Austin. Their current Gold team has players either signed or committed at Univ of TX, Univ of Houston, Texas State Univ, Univ of North Texas, St. Edwards, and others.

You could really make it simple on yourself and move to New Braunfels and split the difference and be right in between Austin and San Antonio! New Braunfels is fast becoming one of the richest areas of softball in the state. They have 3 High Schools and ALL 3 are ranked in the top 20 in the state.....comal county might have the highest concentration of softball players of anywhere. The select program Texas Bombers has become a very solid program and feeds these three HS with tons of talent!
Plus New Braunfels is a way better place to raise a kid than San Antonio or Austin!

Same with us as far as New Braunfels is concerned. If we had to choose between San Antone and Austin, it would be the New Braunfels area, no brainer there.

Living in Austin is very expensive, but the softball is better as of this moment. San Marcos and NB to live, but go play in Austin.
