Houston Area HS Softball 2014

by slaphitter » Mon Apr 21, 2014 11:22 am

My last post got all mixed up Strictly by State ranking

4a 1) Barbers Hill 2) Hallsville 3) Hays 4) Medino Valley 5) Angleton

5a 1) Katy Cinco Ranch 2) Brazoswood 3) Flower Mound 4) Atascocita 5) Woodlands

I would say any one of them can win the State Title

Anyone Have their Wild Card Picks

In 4A I think either Tomball team is capable of going deep. Tomball Memorial has a very strong pitcher and defense. Offense comes and goes, generally gets enough to win. Tomball has a pretty potent offense

First round of the playoffs went as expected. Top seated teams winning.
Second round this week should go the same way.
Third round will start getting interesting. It will probably boil down to, not the better team on paper, but what teams get hot.
Anyone out there have any upsets in mind.

It was a good game until SF blew it open in the 7th with a big grand slam by the Senior 1B. I expect the remaining games to be very close.

The playoffs should get very interesting this week. 5A, loaded with all the top teams still in the hunt. Should be a great week to get out and watch some quality softball.

Where are all of those Pearland people who posted last year? They go farther this year, beat the team that put them out last year, and not a peep. Weird….

2A heating up a little. Time to see if those rankings are correct. I watched the latest Brock games. They have good, not outstanding talent, but continue to find a way to win. It’s amazing how a coach that cares and truly knows the game can change the course of things. They adjust their strategy to win the game at hand - they don’t just stick with one game plan over and over because it’s easier. The one thing I’ve noticed about Brock is the small amount of fan support. With teams that successful, you’d think they’d be more proud. The parents that show up seem to be good people, but I’m always surprised and saddened by their small following.
