So Cal Athletics - T/O won PGF Nationals as 12's last year, so they've got to be in the running.

So why do they need to come to Texas to qualify? Why not stay in their own backyard?!?!?

I would say due to it being the first qualifier.?.? It makes it a lot easier to set your schedule for the rest of the season. If, you qualify then you set up your double headers, friendlies and tournaments. If, you don't then you are looking at where to go to qualify. I would say that is a good reason.

Might be because they are the weaker of the elite teams and can not qualify over there.

Or maybe it's actually tough for kids who were just playing against 12 year olds from 40 feet 7 months ago to make a transition so great that they can make it to the final game in a qualifier against some of the best 14U teams in the nation?

I don't think they will have a big problem with the 43 feet.
