Hosted by the Keller Youth Association and
the Fort Worth Batbusters to benefit the
National Ovarian Cancer Coalition
The Fort Worth Batbusters, Inc. is one of the premier girls’ select softball organizations in the Southwest. Since 2006, Batbusters has sponsored a College Showcase that features the best 18U select softball teams in the Southwest. The showcase is an invitational-only tournament that is formatted to give college coaches an optimal environment to scout some of the most talented softball players in the Southwest. Last year, the showcase attracted over 30 college coaches, including from the University of Texas, the University of Florida, and Baylor University.
This year, Batbusters is teaming up with the Keller Youth Association to expand the College Showcase by adding a 16U showcase tournament. The 2009 College Showcase will feature several fundraising events to benefit the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition in honor of Roni Lemos, the mother of Batbusters player Alyssa Lemos, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. Ovarian cancer is called the silent killer due to subtle and confusing symptoms and lack of early detection tests.
The 16U showcase tournament will be held on October 24 and 25, 2009, at the Keller Sports Complex in Keller, Texas. All net proceeds of the tournament will be donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
