High School Ball right around the corner.

by orange socks » Wed Nov 23, 2016 8:12 am

Now that TB is done for the Fall. Who is ready for some HS ball? There is 1 month 27 days 23 hours 56 minutes til the first UIL practice according to http://www.txprepsoftball.net/

I have come to find out that there are HS programs that are the haves and have nots and it seems to be the same year in year out. There are some teams that have 6 quality starting pitchers and others that have none. Unfortunately, my DD's program is a have not. So I anticipate a bunch of losses, with little to no expectations other than getting reps. With the new district realignments in Texas, I am actually looking forward to the season. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

UGGGHHHHH! The at bats aren't even worth it almost. EVERYTHING is SLOW for the most part and I worry more about an injury from getting hit by someone who has no control.

Let's look at it this way: ONLY 182 days, 3 hours, 21 minutes and 21 seconds util the drama is over and we can play real softball again.

The opponents we played don't have a problem with pitching. It seems like we faced a D1 committed or soon to be committed pitcher every game. For my DD it was a great experience to face that type of competition as a freshman. We only have 4 girls on Varsity that still play TB and none of them pitch except our SS that only pitches for the school. The only thing I really dread is their practices. The coaches don't coach. The players coach themselves, which is a recipe for disaster.

We talkn' 'bout practice... Don't get me started on practice.. We have a pracice after practice to make sure all the correct habits are enforced everyday. It is more work during the HS season to keep the fundamental up to speed than it is during the off season.

You guys must be in a good district in a bigger city to to see commited pitchers in each game. I'd say the average pitching speed in our district is around 56-57 if we are lucky. Now I'm in a bad mood just thinking about it all... Thanks Orange!

January 19th for start of practices. Games usually start a few weeks after that.
