Elite fastest runner/home run contest

by Hey Dill » Mon Oct 26, 2009 7:01 pm

Anyone know who won these competitions? Is anyone in favor of them? I think they are a neat idea, just not sure how they translate to fastpitch.

well first I would say move the fence in about 50 feet. I dont think to many of the 95's,96's,97's or even the 94's that played came close. i melieve a young lady from d-bat chambers won the home run contest. i think she was the only one who hit one over or atleast the furthest.
as far as the fastest runner contest. i wouldn't think this would last long. i know if i was a coach and coming into the part of the season where your playing showcases and also playing when its cooler outside.
I would hate to see a young lady out there trying to win a trophy or a t-shirt and pull a quad, hammy or worse tear something and be done for the remainder of the year or even longer.
just my 2 cents

Good point on both. Temporary fences would make for a better home run contest. And the fastest runner competition in cooler weather is a good point too. That would be a bad time for an injury.

Go for it. Competition is fun and something to do between all the waiting.
2 points.
1. If the she is going to try to run faster in the contest than she will when she bunts or slaps in a tournament, forget about saving her for the college looks.
2. I'm sure they had atleast 3 games on the weekend to attempt to pull the hammy...if they didn't warm up and stretch before bolting down 1st, then....oops.

The girls warmed up like they were going to play a game and I don't think the risk of injury was any greater than playing a game.

The girls had a good time at the events. It would be fun to see some other tournaments host these kinds of fun competitions.

In the running event (one timed trip around the bases), the left side of the 96 Fusion infield placed First (11.0) and Second (11.4).
