Showcase season

Time to wake up Texas! Let's get this forum going.

For those players that want to play D1 ball you have the following 6 weekends to play in front of D1 coaches. It's about to heat up! All other divisions have been already scouting.

Who's going the SK College Classic this weekend??? It'll be fun to watch the colleges play each other and then watch our own kids play.

Did your teams make the Power Pools in these tourneys????

Going to be different. Young teams may play 6 straight weeks all over the country in the fall.

So I'd like to know all the new rules for NCAA. Who has them and will any or all transfer over to select ball?

What does the new recruiting calendar mean? I'm a little confused by it. Can someone simplify it for all of us?

Are there any changes to the recruiting calendar for 2018 Jan-August?

Personally I like that they don't let all infield girls come in after every strike or out to high five(or whatever they do) the pitcher and each other.

I am sure there is a condensed list out there on other softball forums that you could dig up.

Not quite sure how any of the changes in the NCAA game will trickle down to TB. I know at certain tourneys ex: JOCUP-between pitches batter must at least have one foot in the box when taking signs. I have seen twice this fall an umpire called a ball on the pitcher for taking too long to take the sign and begin her pitch.

The biggest talk concerning changes has been the recruiting calendar for D1 college coaches. They can no longer attend games on Fridays and they only have 12 days to watch PSA's in action at tourneys on the weekends from Oct 14-Nov 19th. This also will be problematic for those folks hosting showcase camps attended or put on by college coaches on Friday before the tourneys..

D1 coaches can't attend any showcases/tourneys in the winter or spring - just the summer and 12 days over 6 weekends in the fall.

PDad,

Can they run camps for travel orgs during the Winter and Spring? You know come over to an indoor facility near you hosted by said org?

And thank you for the previous response PDAD.

So what does this mean for Texas teams since more than half of the 6 weeks D1 schools are allowed recruit will be rained out in Texas? Teams are going to have to travel out of state instead every Fall?

That means those players seeking favor from the D1 schools better have a good skills video, a good recruiting coordinator that has relationships with those coaches, and an open calendar to attend the on campus prospect camps.
At least Friday and Saturday games were played at Ronald McDonald. Just wish we could have played our games on Sunday.

Some camps are exempt from recruiting calendar restrictions. I did some research earlier and posted it here - http://www.heybucket.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=99160&p=481756#p481756.

Most D1 coaches are too busy with their own team to run a camp - especially after mid-Jan. Some have unofficial visits of recruits they identified during the fall.
