So Cal Athletics Friendly

SoCal A's 6-9-2
Pumas 3-6-2

Despite missing much of their starting lineup the A's were too much for Pumas. Vines, Geer and Koenig all had 3 hits for the A's with Koenig and Sellers hitting HRs. Faith Canfield was perfect with a single and 2 walks.
OC Batbusters 7-10-1
Sorcerer 2-5-0

In a game featuring 5 future UCLA Bruins the Batbusters broke it open with all 7 runs coming in the last 2 innings. Perez hit a big HR and DePonte and Willis had doubles for Sorcerer. The Batbusters were without 6 players for various reasons. Johanna Grauer looked sharp for 2 innings but Hawkins and Williams got knocked around in relief. Taylor McQuillin went all the way (5 innings) for the winners. Batbuster offense was provided by Maddie Jelenicki and Taylor Swearingen who each had 2 hits with a HR. Mauga and Young also recorded 2 hits, each with a double.
Worth Firecrackers 7-6-3
Wichita Mustangs 7-12-1

The game only lasted 4 innings before time ran out but was about as much fun as you could pack into that time. The Mustangs hit the snot out of the ball against 3 different Firecracker pitchers who weren't helped by their defense. Remarkably 11 of the 12 Mustang hits were singles. Taukeaiho and Blanco each had 2 hits with a HR. Casey Africano got the other 2 hits as 2/3 of the lineup collected 0fers.

13 hours at the ballpark and I'm happier than a pig in well you know.
Lady Magic 8 Choppers 6 4 innings
Lady Magic took an 8-1 lead but Kylie Sorenson hit a grand slam in the 3rd and they had the tying runs on base when the game ended. Lady Magic was aided by 4 BBs and 2 Chopper errors. O'Mara and Wiltz had 2 hits apiece.
Worth Firecrackers 12 Choppers 2 3 innings
The 1st 5 batters of the game got hits and the Firecrackers as the FC collected 8 hits and 7 runs in the 1st inning. They added a 3 run dinger by Janelle Lindvall in the 2nd and a solo shot by Karley Wester in the 3rd. Taukeiaho was 2-2 as was Africano. Cordova, Parks and Floyd combined for a 2-hitter.
Worth Firecrackers 8 Lady Magic 0 5 innings
The Firecrackers again started quickly, scoring 5 in the 1st and 3 in the 2nd. DeWitt and Van Zee were 1-1 with a walk and Taukeiaho hit a 3-run HR right down the RF line. Tera Blanco scattered 4 hits with Wiltz collecting 2 of them.
OC Batbusters 7-8-0
Texas Impact 1-3-0

The Batbusters got only 8 hits but 3 of them were HRs including 2 by Jelenicki and 1 by Swearingen. Jelenicki had 5 RBIs and her 2nd shot went over the back fence and set off a car alarm. Taylor McQuillin gave up[ a HR but was not otherwise threatened.
SoCal Athletics 5-6-0
Sorcerer 2-5-0 6 innings

This game had a little of everything. Sorcerer too a 2-0 lead on a Gabby Maurice double in the 2nd and Krista William's single in the 3rd. That's how it stayed until the bottom of the 6th. Cheridan Hawkins had replaced Grauer after 3 and struck out 5 in 2 innings. With time expired Canfield led off the 6th with a single. Two straight strikeouts and the A's were down to their final out. But Vines got a single and Geer followed after being down to her last strike. This set up the matchup between this year's strikeout queen and the Cal career HR leader. Tautalafua was also down to her final strike but worked a walk to force in a run. Kaylea Snaer then came through with a walkoff grand slam.

Cordova started and pitched to 9 batters. Floyd came in and pitched to 3 batters giving up 2 unearned runs. Parks pitched the final inning which I now notice makes it a 3 1/2 inning game.
My bad.

SoCal Athletics 10 Choppers 4 5 innings
Choppers surprised the A's with 3 in the 1st but the A's came right back in the bottom of the inning on a bases-clearing single by Rachel Sellers. Kylie Sorenson hit a solo HR in the top of the 4th but the A's took the lead for good with 4 hits and 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Tautalafua singled in 1, Sellers 2 more and Munro provided an RBI-double. They came back with 3 more in the 4th on an RBI single by Mo Mercado and a 2-run double by Megan Geer. Danica Mercado was 2-3 and Brooke Vines was 1- with 2 walks.
Lady Magic 7-7-1
Sorcerer 6-8-2

An all Norcal affair which was a treat for those of scoring. Had the time limit not halted the game after 4 innings we might have seen double digits. The difference turned out to be a runner who was thrown out at the plate because she didn't slide in the 1st. She was immediately yanked and spent the rest of the day on the bench. Magic got 2 unearned runs in the 1st on 2 hits and 2 Sorcerer errors. Willis doubled in 2 in the bottom of the 1st. Grauer got the 1st 2 batters in the 2nd before giving up 3 hits and 2 walks. O'Mara and Moore each drove in a run. Sorcerer got 1 back as DePonte walked with the bases loaded. Sorcerer took the lead with 3 in the 3rd. Krista Williams tripled in 2 and Kylee Perez singled her in. The win came courtesy of some Cheridan Hawkins wildness. Three of the 1st 4 batters received free passes with a single mixed in for variety. Taryn Renowden then came off the bench for a big 2-run single to retake the lead. Sorcer could have had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 4th but a base hit to RF was turned into a force out when the runner thought it was going to be caught. It turned out to be the only inning they didn't score. Whitney Smith went 2-2 with a BB for LM and Gabby Maurice did the same for Sorcerer.

SoCal Athletics 11-10-2
Explosion 4-6-1 5 innings

Neither starter (White and Pola) had their best day. In addition to the 10 hits the A's received 6 walks and scored in every inning but the 1st. After Explosion scored 3 in the 2nd, Gourley came in to restore order. In the 2nd the A's loaded th bases on a single and 2 BBs and with 2 outs Vines singled in 2 and Mo Mercado singled in 2 more. Explosion loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning on 2 hits and a walk. The A's made 2 errors on the same play to score a run and Sarah Moore doubled in 2 more. Geer singled to lead off the 3rd and scored when Sellers ground ball was thrown into the next county. The A's went from speed to power in the 4th scoring the 1st run on a double steal and the next 2 on a Tautalafua HR. They loaded the bases in the 5th on a walk and 2 singles. One came home on a ground out by Vines and 2 more on Mo Mercado's single. Ziese and Everett clubbed back-to-back doubles to complete the scoring. Everett (2-3) was the only Explosion with more than 1 hit. Danica Mercado was 3-4 for the A's.
Worth Firecrackers 16-16-1
Lady Magic 4-5-4
Cordova vs Conley, Shipley (3)

This was not pretty if you were a Lady Magic fan. That time ran out after 4 innings could only be seen as a blessing. Akey and Escalante hit consecutive HRs in the 4th but before that they had managed only 2 hits. Aside from the hits and errors the Firecrackers received 7 walks. Taukeiaho was 1-2 with 2 BB and 3 RBIs, Dewitt 2-2, Blanco 1-1 with 3 BB, Wester 2-3 with 3 RBIs, and Gonzalez and Van Zee 2 for 3 with an RBI.

OC Batbusters 6 Worth Firecrackers 3 6 innings
What appeared on paper as the prime time semi turned anticlimactic as neither side, from circumstances or on purpose, fielded their strongest team. It was in effect a division final as the championship game would not be played. Parks and McQuillin squared off in a pitchers' duel for 4 innings with the Batbusters leading 1-0 on Cheeks' RBI single in the 2nd. Despite 5 hits and 3 walks the 1 run was all the Batbusters could muster. The Firecrackers had only 3 singles and a hit batter but got it together in the 5th. Sherman singled, Bravo beat out a bunt and L.Lindvall got an IF hit. With 2 outs Chelsea Gonzalez singled in 2 to take the lead. But the lead didn't last long as Campbell singled, Mauga walked and Delaney Spaulding blasted a 3-run HR. Moeai followed with a double and Swearingen hit it out for a 5 run inning. The FC got a consolation run in the 6th but could come no closer.
