Case Batbusters 0 0 0 0 0 0 1=1-3-0
Corona Angels 0 1 0 0 0 1 x=2-10-1

Capable of fielding a lineup of 6 all-state 1st teamers, the Angels had to expect a little easier time of it. Ontiveros and Lockman did their part allowing only an unearned run in the 7th but the hitters failed to take advantage of their opportunities and the Batbusters hung in there the whole game. Four singles in the 2nd produced only 1 run as Arizmendi got the RBI. They clung to the 1-run lead until going to their bench for an insurance run in the 6th. After singles by Taylor and Padilla, Madrid's RBI single doubled the lead. Vecvanags also singled but the runner was thrown out at the plate. Lockman gave up a triple to lead off the 7th and a 2-out error brought in the run.

CA Cruisers 0 0 0 0 1 0 1=2-7-1
Irvine Sting 0 0 0 0 0 0 0=0-3-1

The Sting wasted early chances, seemed to lose heart in the middle innings and saw a 7th inning rally fall short. They had runners on 1st and 3rd in the 1st but Duquette got picked off 3rd. In the 2nd they loaded the bases with 1 out before reminding us that it is a game of inches. Northcutt hit a liner down the 3rd base line. Six inxhes one way and it's a double, six inches the other way it's a foul ball. Instead it's into the 3rd baseman's glove for a DP. They got a runner to 2nd in the 5th via a strikeout on a wild pitch and a stolen base. Cadogan got a base hit in the 6th but was erased on a double play. Meanwhile the Cruisers weren't doing any better until the 5th. Humphrey gave up 2 hits and was replaced by Williams whose 2-out walk loaded the bases. What should have beeen the 3rd out turned into a run when the SS was indecisive and ended up dropping the ball. THey got an insurance run on a HR in the 7th but at the time it looked like overkill. With 2 outs in the bottom of the inning, before the final nail in the coffin could be driven in, the Sting came alive. Guzman walked, Hope singled and Duquette walked to load the bases. But alas it was not to be as the next batter grounded out to end the game.
