TCS 14u Discussion

by Luther » Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:21 pm

The winning team will probably go 4-0 in their pool.

I have listed below the teams that have currently gone 4-0 in their pool.

The brackets not listed means that no-one from that pool is 4-0.

The teams below are ranked by runs allowed:

AF: Corona Angels-Lockman - 1
AI: Firecrackers- Sota - 2
AH: The Next Level-Balzer - 3
AR: American Pastime 98 - 3
AT: West Coast Voodoo - 3
AS: San Diego Renegades – Mena - 4
BB: California Thunder 98 - 5
AG: VC Venom - 5
AU: American Athletics – Miles - 6
BE: So Cal Jynx 98 - 6
AJ: Banzai - 7
AA: San Diego Power Surge 97 - 7
BG: So Cal Blue Crew - 7
AV: Teamsmith 14U - 8
AQ: Irvine Sting 97 - 9
AM: USA Athletics-Camez - 9
AY: USA Athletics 98 Schultz – 12

The team that I expected to also be on this list was Firecrackers - Brashear.

They won their first 3 games with 0 points scored on them. They ended up tying So Cal 3D 97 1-1.

Even though the Kidd did not win all their games; they are the one team that could win this thing who isnt on the list above.

Complete agreement with you Luther. Have been a fan of his team for a long time. I just cannot understand why in 3 of their games, they were only able to get across 1 run each time? That is not reflective of their usual offense. I still expect them to be in the final 4.
Good luck to everyone - leave it all on the field!

Why are some many 1 seeds playing other #1's in the first round of bracket play? With 34 pools of 5, why aren't they matching up #1 vs #5 consitantely? There is even one bracket that has #5vs#5 and winner plays another #5. This layout is going to punish a lot of teams for winning their pool.

Good Question. Prior to tourney start they had 3 pools/divisions and they grouped teams in each based on the perceived skill level or past tourney results. I wonder if they used those pools to start the seeding?

There were 2 different types of pools, Power and Open, and they operate like TCS did in Colorado. All the Power Pool teams advance to the Gold bracket along with the winners of the Open Pools. At least one of the teams in the 1st vs. 1st match-ups is from an Open Pool.

Gold Championship Bracket--All Power Pool Teams Pools (AA--AI), 1st place in Open Pools (AJ--BC)

Silver Championship Bracket--All 2nd, 3rd place teams in Open Pools (Pools AJ--BC),1, 2, 3 from Calif Pools (Pools BD--BH)

Bronze Championship Bracket--All 4th, 5th place teams in Open Pools (Pools AJ---BC) and 4, 5, 6 place teams from Calif Pools (BD--BH)

Thanks PDad.. makes much more sense.

In reference to Brashear; Looks like someone lit the Firecracker. He went 2-0 today scoring 11 runs and allowing 0.

Yup.. better watch out for Brashear... he is looking good.

I am very impressed with Cruisers too! They were sent into the losers bracket their first game by Pure Fastpitch. They then went on to WIN all 5 games on Friday and will be playing The Next Level - Balzer tomorrow morning.

They were the only team to lose their first game and make it to Saturday. It shows the depth of their team to be able to win Punishers 97 who were playing their 3rd game of the day while the Cruisers were playing their 5th of the day.
