San Ramon Slammers!

Recently, I have had the opportunity to manage girl’s fast pitch softball after several years of competitive baseball. I can personally attest to what a fun sport this is! I have really enjoyed this past year and feel blessed to have had this opportunity to work with a group of really good girls and families.
Having taken this leap to girls fast pitch softball, I became aware that approximately 2500 girls play youth softball in the Tri-Valley area each spring; but surprisingly only a small handful, about 5%, go on to play summer and fall competitive travel ball.
There appears to be a number of factors that prevent more girls from playing competitive softball throughout the year, with many of those factors not likely to change. None of these are about the girl’s abilities, effort, energy, excitement, or desire to play.
After having managed several competitive teams at San Ramon Pony Travel Baseball for a number of years, served as 680 Diablo League President in 2010 and active as a San Ramon PONY board member, speaking for San Ramon Pony Baseball, we feel we know a little something about this... The current girls fast pitch environment is very similar to when we began our PONY baseball program in 2003. We are very well organized and recognized as a premier program (http://www.sanramonbaseball.com) (http://www.sanramonfastpitchsoftball.com) in the Tri-Valley. Nearly 100% of our late age players make their High School teams. THIS PROCESS STARTS AT AN EARLY AGE AND IT’S NEVER TOO LATE!
The San Ramon program is now forming a premier program for girls fast pitch softball; the SLAMMERS San Ramon Fast Pitch Softball! The attached flier outlines our program.
Let’s do this! Let’s get more of our Tri-valley girls’ youth involved in year-long competitive softball and let’s develop each girl’s character, talents and skills to their fullest potential!
