The Eagles came into this game averaging 15 runs per game with no game less than 9. But when you play a local rival and the pitcher keeps you lunging at her off-speed stuff, all bets are off. The Highlanders struck first with 2 outs in the 1st. A long fly to center looked like it might go out but Isbel got a glove on it and it went for a double. The next hitter bounced one up the middle and it was 1-0 Upland.

Etiwanda came right back in their half of the inning. Isbel got an IF hit and went to 2nd on a bad throw by the shortstop. Spaulding singled and stole 2nd and Gonzalez was hit by a pitch. Rentschler then beat out an IF hit and the game was tied. Upland put 2 runners on again in the 2nd but Monique Wesley worked out of the jam. The Eagles struck with 2 outs in the 2nd. Isbel singled to RF and Taukeiaho followed with a massive blast over the RF fence. Upland cut the deficit in half with a single and RBI double in the 3rd and that was all the scoring for the day. Upland got their 3rd double of the day in the 4th but couldn't get her in. A 2 base error by the Eagles led off the 6th but Wesley retired the next 3 hitters to shut down the rally. Etiwanda also threatened through an error and a BB in the 6th but weren't able to capitalize. The Eagles outhit the Highlanders 9-7.
