Crescenta Valley starts league play with a bang

Crescenta Valley High School Falcons started league play today against the Pasadena Bulldogs.

After Dan Berry the long time coach of Crescenta Valley passed away at the end of last year Crescenta Valley Lady Falcons would have made Coach Berry very proud starting the year off with a big win.

Olivia Thayer starting pitcher for Crescenta Valley got her first win in league play with a 19-2 victory over Pasadena.

Hailey Cookson started the game off with a double and scored the first run when Jessica Morena's tripled. Tiffany Briscoe came up next and tripled scoring Morena.

Thayer gave up one hit and had two strike outs in the bottom of the first to end the inning.

Crescenta Valley broke it open in the second inning with a couple of singles from Brady Sanford and Clair Ortiz. Allison Lacey laid down a beautiful squeeze to score Ortiz. Hannah Cookson hit her second home run of the season to score Sanford. Tiffany Briscoe got a hit up the middle and Taylor Hill drew a walk opening the door for Whitney Craig's triple. Claier Ortiz singled allowing Craig to cross the plate.
CV went up 10-0 after 2 innings

Hannah Cookson hit her second home run of the game in the 3rd for Crescenta Valley, Jessica Morena walked, Brisco singled, Taylor Hill drew another walk and Whitney Craig doubled. Amber Alsamman got on with a Pasadena error, Clair Ortiz walked, Hailey Cookson hit a triple scoring Ortiz and Allison Lacey bunted Cookson in. Elana Leon entered the game and double and Molly Burke doubled right behind her scoring Leon.

Chloe Fairborther came in as the CV closer to send Crescenta Valley home with their first league win.

CV Coach Viersgordillo was very happy with the way the Falcons played.
