It was my first chance to see Pacifica and they were indeed impressive. Jesuit reportedly had only played 3 games and they looked it. Their failure to hit wasn't so surprising, many teams have struggled against those pitchers but the pitcher/catcher never got in sync (7 WP/PB in 1st game alone) and their defense (particular the outfielders) couldn't catch the ball. I don't know how many official errors there were but there were at least 7-8 balls that should have been caught that weren't.
Jesuit Portland 0 0 0 0 0=0
Pacifica 0 5 2 0 5=12
The Mariners only managed 7 hits in the 1st game but with 4 errors, 3 BB, 1 HBP and 5 stolen bases there were plenty of chances to score. Many of them were cashed in by Nicole DeWitt who had 2 HRs for 7 RBIs. Kaylee Carlson struck out the 1st 6 batters she faced on the way to 10 in 4 innings. Marina went out in the 1st as well but it was the only time all day. Lee started the 2nd with a single to center and came all the way around to score when the pitcher threw away Hart's ground ball. Then came a WP a walk to Kloss and another WP. Choate singled off the CF's glove for run and DeWitt blasted a 3-run HR over the CF fence. The Crusaders managed their only hit off Carlson in the 3rd but she ran her strikeout total to 8
In the 3rd, Lee again led off with a single and immediately stole 2nd. Akiona walked and a WP put runners at 2nd and 3rd. One run scored on a groundout and the 2nd on an E-7. Akione singled to lead off the 5th and came home on a WP, BB, WP, 1B sequence with Kloss getting the RBI. Tajalle got an IF hit and DeWitt again went to CF this time for a grand slam. The game was ended after 5 by mutual agreement. Lee went 2-3, Choate 2-2 and Akiona 2-3.
