Chino Hills @ Ayala 4-3

by oldNlazy » Wed Apr 04, 2012 12:26 am

Chino Hills is ranked #21 in the state but Ayala played them pretty tough. Five of their 7 hits and all 5 runs came in the disastrous (for Ayala) 3rd inning. Nikki Innamorato had a little trouble in the 1st but after that faced the minimum. Nikki Girard's bases-clearing double was the big blow for the Huskies.

Innamorato vs Ettinger

Ayala threatened to score first but it was their only threat of the game. Innamorato threw a runner out at 3rd to take the wind out of their sales. After that it was 3 up 3 down every inning. They got a walk in the 3rd but she was immediately erased stealing. Seven Bulldogs went down on strikes. Chino Hills wasn't doing much better, going out in order in every inning but the 3rd and 6th. In the latter Gumz was hit by a pitch and Michael singled to right but Ettinger got the next 3. Which brings us to the magical/horrible 3rd when the Huskies semt 9 batters to the plate. Martinez started it with a double to center. Mendez bunted and was safe at 1st when the 2nd baseman dropped the ball while Martinez scored. Romaine singled off the 3rd baseman's glove and 1 out later Snow singled to RF to load the bases. Girard's double cleared the bases combined with the right fielder's error. Gumz then singled her in for what was to be the final run of the game.
