Vista Murrieta 7 San Clemente 1

The tone was set early as Morando led off the bottom of the 1st with a HR. Sydney Romero provide a run-scoring double and VM was off to the races. Kylie Datil who would finish with a single, double and triple, led off the 3rd with a double, stole 3rd and came home on a Triton error. IN the 4th it was an E-4, HBP, WP and RBI-single by Datil. Ta'amilo allowed only 3 hits but 2 came in the 5th. A walk and 2 singles brought in a run and SC loaded the bases, still without an out but Ta'amilo used 2 strikeouts and a pop up to avoid further damage. With 2 outs in the VM 6th Zamora got a single and Datil tripled her home. The coach made the unusual move of pinch-hitting for HR-hitter Morando and Tayler Moore made him look good by hitting her own HR to CF.

Etiwanda 0 0 0 0 4 2 2=8
Vista Murr.0 1 1 2 1 1 0=6
Wesley vs Ta'amilo
The first 2 games I saw Wednesday featured these teams getting upset but they fought back to play for the Consolation Championship. VM used a single by Sierra Romero, an E-2, a wild pitch and Swearingen's single to take the lead in the 2nd. In the 3rd it was Cochran's single, consecutive wild pitches and Ta'amilo's single to double their margin. In the 4th Flexen walked and came home on Datil's double. An RBI-single and it was 4-0 and beginning to look nasty for Etiwanda. But the Eagles are nothing if not resilient and they got them all back with 2 outs in the 5th. Isbel walked, Taukeiaho singled and Delaney Spaulding, Ta'amilo's future UCLA teammate, took her downtown for a 3-run HR. When Gonzalez followed with a solo shot wh had a brand new ballgame.

Vista didn't wait long to get the lead back as Sierra Romero opened the 5th with a HR of her own. The Eagles took the lead right back in the 6th. A hit batter, E-2 and bunt single by Silva loaded the bases with 0 outs. One out later they had no place to put Taukeiaho and she punished them with a single up the middle for 2 runs. With the time limit rapidly approaching, VM needed to score and they did on a BB, WP and RBI-single by Morando. ITB took over in the 7th and where Etiwanda needed 4 innings of ITB to score in the last game, this time they did it right away without benefit of a hit. Two walks, a hit batter and a ground ball got in 2 runs and VM went out in order in the bottom half of the inning.

In what appeared to be evenly matched teams, Pacifica just took out a whooping stick on Los Alamitos, winning the championship in a game that wasn't as close as the score suggests.
Pacifica 1 0 4 3 1 2 2=13-15-1
Los Al 0 2 0 1 0 1 1= 5 - 5 -3
Humphrey vs Carlson
Things started out smoothly enough for Los Al as the 1st 2 batters were retired but then came an infield hit by Campbell, Lee's single to CF and an E-6 which got the run in. Later in the evening it would be hard to remember that the Griffins once led the game but it came in the 2nd on Loufou's single and Scheele's HR. The Mariners came right back with 4 of their own. DeWitt walked, Canfield singled her to 3rd and Campbell chipped in with a sac fly. Lee singled and Rivera walked to load the bases. Two more scored when the center-fielder dropped Kiona's fly and a harmless pop up was allowed to become an RBI single when the 3 defenders couldn't decide who should catch it. The rout was on in the 4th. DeWitt beat out an IF hit and stole 2nd. Campbell walked and tournament MVP Rebecca Lee cracked an RBI single to right. Rivera contributed 2 RBIs with a single to CF,

Los Al got 1 back in the 4th on singles by Geer and Loufou and a ground out by Scheele but Pacifica came right back against new pitcher Alex Formby. Choate blooped one into RF, moved up on a WP and came home on DeWitt's double. A two-out error followed by Akiona's HR extended the lead in the 6th. Kutzke doubled and scored on a rare error by Rivera in the 6th but the Mariners just came back with 2 more in the 7th on a 2-run HR by DeWitt.
