If you expect any other country to give meaningfully at all, let alone until it hurts, you're flat out dreaming. If you expect us to give more, well...F you if you want to do it at the end of a gun (i.e., via taxation).

Second, it is a fundamental law of economics that if you subsidize something, you will get more of that thing. Pay people who are impoverished, and you get more people who make poverty inducing decisions (like having more kids when they can't feed the ones they have). Remove the consequences of bad decisions, and you remove the most important incentive for people to make good ones. This is why you cannot buy off poverty. It's been tried everywhere. Including here.

Your post illustrates my point quite well. Thank you!

Substitute "refutes" for "illustrates," and you're on the right track...

So YOU say. Have a great day!

I have to say, that may be your weakest comeback yet on HB.......What sort of analogy are you looking for me to make, then? You just don't want to admit that there are good and bad on both sides of the aisle......Not sure why you take such a closed-minded view on this, but I bet you are still a stud in the sack.....which, in the realm of things, is all that matters!

Lmao...you flatter me. I've had much weaker comebacks on HB! (The rest isn't flattery if it's true, right? ;) )

What I'm looking for is a broadly applicable analogy between liberals and conservatives. Pointing to a handful of conservatives who are paid to stir things up doesn't cut it.

But let me clarify what I mean by "propensity to take offense." I don't mean the analyticial observation that something is offensive (i.e., as against our societal values, norms of common decency, etc.). I mean the propensity to take opposing ideas/comments as a personal affront, and to view the proponents of said ideas/comments not as adversaries who must be defeated in the political arena, but rather as personal enemies.

After an argument, conservatives will leave shaking their heads, thinking "man, that chick is clueless" (whether the lib was technically a man or woman). Liberals will leave thinking "man, what an evil s.o.b.," or "I'd love to drag that puke behind my car for a few miles."

Sounds like the left's poster child, Hugo Chavez, has his own theory on what caused the earthquake.

Skarp, if you want to see me in my bikini, then come east around June 21.....I teach swimming lessons to little kids for two weeks in late June and early July...... or........ I have been known to "lay out" in skimpy clothing between games on Sat. and Sun while emptying my cooler of drinks with the dads.

I look forward to you coming my way soon......my dd's tourney schedule can be found at eteamz.jerseyjaguars.....our schedule is posted on the home page.....I need to write the language for all the tournaments......but have not had the time to do so, yet......come see me, then post back if it was worth it or not.....believe me, you will not be disappointed! Oh, I am on Facebook, too!

I bet the moms just love you for that.

I have similar issues, as the moms on dd's team keep asking me to show up to games/practices in a Batman suit. I'm thinking the dads might not like that so much, but then I dunno...maybe they would.
