Not sure if this is all through VA or just in our area ... but the Cheerleaders for HS no longer do any type of routine where one of them is thrown in the air ... It seems to be restricted to pom-pom waving while doing a dance routine and splits ...

Never thought about it, but it makes sense. The rise of competition cheerleading which is getting significant exposure on cable TV is an incentive for HS kids to try the same dangerous routines they see on TV but without the training and practice of a competition squad. This is the result.
