When I'm at a game and folks start chanting USA USA USA I'm inclined the join in.

I drove through a section of town yesterday where every billboard and store front sign is in Spanish. I went to a Mexican food restaurant for breakfast and the entire menu was in Spanish. The guy at the counter only spoke Spanish. I still dont know exactly what i had for breakfast!
Did I complain? Did I alert the media?

Could it be the other side is predisposed to feel victimized? Maybe their sensitivity meter is tweaked to Ultra?

My best friend's parents are from Mexico. I showed her this story and she said "Frickin wetbacks wasting their time. They'd be further ahead if they stopped whining and spent all that energy taking advantage of the opportunities they have here."

I invited her to breakfast. We went to a French bistro. The menu was in French. And English.

The moral of the story, if there is one, might be that if you live inAmerica and want to be treated like an American, then BE American.

You don't even need to give up your culture. My ancestors were Irish. I have plenty of green in my closet, and hold biannual sacrifices to theDruids, and consume prodigious amounts of alcohol, and don't complain when my fellow Americans chant USAUSAUSA. And neither does my Mexican first generation American friend. Neither of us have anything to complain about, or apologize for.
Ladies, if a man tells you he will fix it, he will fix it. There is no reason to remind him about it every six months.

My Ancestors were mostly Polish & Irish ... Both faced prejudice and hardships as I'm sure did yours ... They kept much of their culture and traditions alive, but as you point out wanted to BE American ... I believe the vast majority of immigrants want nothing more than the better life that they can achieve through hard work ... That seldom gets any headlines though ... Several years ago we employed many immigrants from Poland ... I remember thinking I had a couple slackers mixed in with the hard workers ... Not quite sure who the problem was, I picked one and sh*t canned him ... The next day, the one who spoke the most broken english told me " Boss, you make fire wrong man " ... When people are working hard, there is little tolerance amongst them for those who aren't ... I have observed Mexican Immigrants watch their own struggle and not help them with a task ... I understand that to mean that they will not allow others to make their job harder if they can not do their own job ...

And all things being the same, I think that the school officials who apologized for their kids doing the USA USA USA cheer, - should be fired on the spot. We have enough losers in high places apologizing for us being American.

Absolutely...If it was a racial slur, did you know that it all started with the other side saying "Alamo Whites" towards the beginning of the game?
A play on "Alamo Heights" but they were the victims. Un-Freakin-Believable.
