My father was on Guadalcanal. One uncle served on the USS Lexington during the Battle of the Coral Sea and survived the explosion in the picture below. Another fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Only my father is still alive, but he suffers from dementia/Alzheimers.
The average age of WWII veterans is now 90. We have few remaining opportunities to thank them.
That was wonderful and put a lump in my throat. Thank you.
