My father was on Guadalcanal. One uncle served on the USS Lexington during the Battle of the Coral Sea and survived the explosion in the picture below. Another fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Only my father is still alive, but he suffers from dementia/Alzheimers.

The average age of WWII veterans is now 90. We have few remaining opportunities to thank them.

My Father fought in WWII and then reenlisted and fought in the Korean war. He is dead now. They think his cancer was caused by chemicals he inhaled during the war. He was pretty much deaf in one ear and could hear to good from the other ear. It was from the gun he shot from the ship at the Japanese planes
