Best Album Period

If I had to pick one, it would have to be Metallica's Black album. I grew up with this album. In my opinion, every single song on that album is a hit.

Some of my other close calls were Alice In Chain's Dirt, Pearl Jam's Ten, Skid Row's Slave to the Grind, U2's Joshua Tree, Public Enemy's It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back, GNR Apetite For Destruction, Prince Purple Rain, Run-DMC Raising Hell, NWA Straight Outta Compton, Radiohead OK Computer, Nine Inch Nails Downward Spiral, and Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream....Oops, my 2nd favorite of all time.....Rage Against The Machine The Battle Of Los Angeles.....Don't think I left anyone out......

Growing up, I would have to say Prince - Purple Rain, use to play that damn album backwards to hear the message in the rain. That album had a little bit of everything in regards to what each song had to say: Darling Nikki - kept looking for one of those throughout high school, Purple Rain - Friend that turns to lover, Let's Go Crazy - party, ...you get the point.

Now, I would have to say Bob Marley - Legend. Most of those songs still cover a lot of the same topics that we go through now. I never get tired of listening to it & now my kids are all into it, they think they are so cool, because after the movie Legend came out all their friends would play the few songs from the movie & they turned their friends onto the rest from that cd (no more albums) .

There are others, but I will stick to the criteria, but Led Zepplin 4, is hard not to put in here.

Rush--Moving Pictures. Just played it to be sure, and it's still as fresh as the first time I heard it. Better even. Amazing album, start to finish.

Other possibilities: Rush--Hemispheres, Floyd--Animals or Wish You Were Here, Boston--Boston, Fleetwood Mac--Rumours, Beattles--Sgt. Pepper, The Who--Who's Next, Zeppelin--IV or Physical Graffiti, Metallica--Metallica (Black Album), Simon & Garfunkel--Sounds of Silence, Black Sabbath--Paranoid, The Cure--Disintigration, Depeche Mode--Violator, Pumpkins--Siamese Dream, Alice in Chains--Dirt or Jar of Flies...I could go on.

hotwheels & ocdad, I am impressed. I didn't think I'd see any Prince fans on here. Prince's Purple Rain is an awesome choice. Definitely in the must have's of everyones collection. I too have to go with Prince, but my favorite album of all time is Sign O the Times. Double album, with some awesome party and baby making music on both cds. Oh yeah.
