2. If John McCain had won...was his plan any different ?
3. Ask the millions that have lost their homes and/or jobs if a little socialism is a bad thing.
4. Hillary doesn't need respect. We have laser guided missiles that actually work. Thanks Bill
5. Off subject...the war in Iraq is over...bring home the boys. When the Iraqi's finish killing each other off , we'll buy some oil off the ones still standing...like the good ol' days.
6. Skarp...come back to us. You've gone off into deep right field.
1. Libertarians didn't run the Bush administration. They obviously didn't even have a voice in it, as they wouldn't have tolerated any of his budgets or big government policies for a second. Ever heard of Ron Paul? Not exactly Bush's biggest supporter. But the fact of the matter is, as any remotely politically savvy person understands, the president has very little real control over the economy.
Regarding "hundreds" of Enrons, that's a complete fabrication. Enron, Worldcom, and a handful of others. So what? There will always be the few bad apples who will find a loophole in existing regulations in order to swindle. We can impose draconian regulations and reporting/accounting standards, or we can accept the occasional bad apple as the price of a free and vibrant economy. Any idea how much compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley costs our economy every year?
As for Countrywide and the other failed or troubled banks, it's truly comical for you to lay that off on Republicans. The banks were merely churning out the types of bad loans
required by the left to serve the utopian goal of "affordable housing." When the numbers don't add up, which for the poor they do not, a little creativity is called for. Fact is, Republicans repeatedly called for more oversight of Fannie Mae and the viability of the types of loans it was backing, but they were stonewalled by the left. You should watch C-Span rather than MSNBC.
2. John McCain would have been awful, but he would have known better than to raise taxes and penalize capital investment in the middle of a recession.
3. That the recipients of government handouts are happy to take them is hardly a compelling argument. Why don't you give
me some money? I'll be happy to take it...so by your logic I guess that means you should.
Most of the people who have lost their homes had no business buying them in the first place. That's a simple fact. Now we're supposed to bail them out so they can stay in their homes? Great idea. Wish I had bought a home that I couldn't afford. Next time I will.
4. Clinton cut military and intelligence spending dramatically. He gave us 9/11 and a nuclear armed North Korea. Thanks Bill.
5. Excellent! Leave a power vacuum for radical extremists to step into. Hell, it's not like the neanderthals will ever be able to harm us, right? I mean, how much can hundreds of billions in oil profit really buy you anyway?
6. I'll come back from right field when you name a conservative presidential candidate that even 10% of the MSM endorsed in the past 50 years. Otherwise I'll stick by my comments and stay right where I'm at.
