If 3 has it then take 3 balls from group 1 and weigh them against 3 balls from group 3. If they balance then the ball left over is odd. Weigh it against any known good ball to determine heavier or lighter. If they don't balance, you can determine if it's heavier or lighter by the way the scale tilts. If heavier weigh 2 balls to determine if one of those are heavier and if balances, then it's the one left over. Same way if you have determined a light ball.
I know that much and I'm tired...LOL...Thinking for long periods of time is not my forte'...
