Socialism???

Let me tell you a story...

Let's say the Coronas of SoCal win ASA Gold this year. They busted their ass for many years to get to the top through hard work, sweat, and tears. No one gave them anything...

In September, ASA rules that Coronas' success is wonderful, but for 2010, they will need to give up three of their best players to the last place team...all in the name of fairness. Sharing the wealth if you will....

Sound familier?

Another story...

DD #1 works all summer and returns to college in the fall, comes home for break and talks about voting for the O man. She says she likes his ideas of free health care, taking care of the folks, yada, yada...

Dear old dad says okay, let me take some of the money you earned last summer and give it to DD #2. She didn't earn it, but thats okay...she still wants to buy a few things and will use your hard earned money. DD #1 is now pissed!

She voted for McCain.

McCain huh....... Yea that would have fixed it. I voted for him too as the lesser of two evils. Somewhere out there is the right person to lead our country but he won't be found because there is too much power in the hands of people that value personal interest over the interest of the country as a whole. If you really think any major political party today is going to right the ship good luck.

I don't care for many of Obama's actions or policies at this time either but unless we elected the anti-Christ I don't know if it will really make a difference. Bush allowed for the bailout package before he left office, which gave the government a finacial stake in industry, which is a form of what ever political "ism". I try to stay realistic, in virtually every presidential term we have had something taken away from us and have gotten further away from the basis the Country was founded on.

Honestly Joe, it may take someone like you to right the ship but unless you are connected with a political party and are willing to get elected and then throw away their concerns to do what's right.............

You cant get any clearer than that - but the majority of the people are now in the DD #2 situation and the thing that is wrong is that both DD #1 and DD #2 votes count the same.

I thought conservatives are opposed to the 19th amendment ( right to vote). Or just the ones that disagree with you.

Need you ask?

Although Hayek did not support pure laissez-faire economics, he did correctly point out the dangers of state control.

The Constitution of Liberty is another great Hayek book.

NO, haven't read it,but his daughter is HOT.

Whether someone agrees with anyone has nothing to do with right to vote. I think that the 19th amendment should be modified to require that to be able to vote, you must be an employed member of society as evidenced by a w-2, or a tax return that shows that you earned money that year. The only exceptions should be 65 or older or physically disabled.

Let the flames begin since as we all know, this would completely and utterly wipe out the democratic party. And yes, i vote republican even though they suck. They just dont suck as much as the other option.

I don't know if there was ever a real occurrence. It was a topic on the Rush Limbaugh show a few years back. Ditto heads got so angry at women that supported Bill Clinton they wanted to repeal the 19th amendment. The original conservative argument during the time of suffrage was one family one vote. A girl gets married than her husband does the voting, if she never marries then she never leaves home and her father cast the votes. It seems ridiculous today , but 100 years ago it probably made some sense. Many on the right still believe it should be that way.
