As I'm sure you do and many others when the kids have ventured out into the world ... And I do as often as we speak, or text, or FB ... Cyber hug or verbalize the love ... Life is precious and fragile ...

My son is recovering in a rehab center in Houston. He has recovered so much day by day in the last three days , its really amazing. His language is almost complete - until late in the day when he tires, the doctors told us to expect that. The damaged connections in his brain are connecting but they are weakened and as he tires, they dont connect as well. Thats the best interpretation I can make of the droves of phd/md neuroscientists, neurologists, etc. that roam these halls and sit and talk to me about his recovery. They say his age (25), fitness and pain in the ass-ness greatly contributed to his recovery - but they didnt know early on whether that would be the case. Be sides his PITA and his incredible stubborness, he is quite smart (he gets that from me, the other two , from his mother). His biggest issues are dealing with the partial paralysis of his right side, some short time memory issues, and the communication problems - though that seems to be mostly behind us - until he tires.

We could all use some uplifting news after the events in Newtown ,CT yesterday.

This fit the bill and I look forward to hearing even more good news in the weeks and months to come.

Thanks Donnie,

He was discharged from the rehab center - given a ton of instructions on therapy at home, and orders for out patient therapy here at a local hospital. He was so happy to be going home - he wanted to go 'crash' a local bar-b-q being given for him, so we did. He said, 'this is so cool, i want to stay till the end.' Knowing what would happen, I said 'sure'. About an hour later, some 4 hours short of 'the end' , he said,' Dad, lets go home.'

I have run into a number of people who are very interested in these kind of injuries - I have a set of pics that would interest those people, early at the bbq, he has a smile, both sides of his mouth smile, as the hour proceeds, pics kept being taken, friends hugging him, etc. As the event continued, his smiles changed until the last photo, a left side smile and the right side sloping down as his getting tired caused him not to be able to deal with the partial paralysis. Learning things I never thought I would - sure prefer batting averages and do rise balls rise or not. But be that as it may, we are very thankful for our Christmas miracle. Thanks for your prayers and wishes.
