Are you saying they are 'legally' entitled to it - because Legal and Illegal mean absolutely nothing to me. Just like 'OJ is not guilty of killing his wife and her friend' means nothing to me. He killed his wife and anyone who thinks otherwise is too ignorant for me to spend one second with them.

If someone is on welfare, (Octomom comes to mind), and keeps squirting out kids, she needs to be spayed, very plain and simple. The female and her mate are not entitled to anything, nothing, the kids are entitled to be removed and sent to a foster home.

Let's make it even more simplistic, if you are on government assistance, you give up your right to vote. You regain your right to vote once you are off assistance. Makes it difficult to continue to vote additional freebees and gives an incentive to get off government assistance.

Yeah ... you're right D-man ... 'entitiled' was a bad choice of words ... and I'm still on my first cup of joe here but I'll try to clarify what I meant ...: IF, by the way the system is currently set up, they have applied for and meet all the criteria for that assistance, would you take their right to vote away until they are no longer on assistance ? ... This person has not violated any laws, but only taking the hand-up ... When the hand-up becomes a hand out, when they abuse the system, when they defraud the government ... that is another story ...
As far as the Octomom ... what a freakin' wacko ... and so is the doctor who performed this procedure ... maybe he should be responsible for the health and well being of these kids who will probably be raised as 'children of the system" ... not knowing anything else but welfare and food stamps as a way of life ... its a damn shame ... we all know how expensive it is to raise our own kids, then we are responsible for hers and others ... but what would you do with them NOW that they are here ? ... orphanage ? foster home Let them starve because their Mother is a dip-wad ? I suppose there are enough people out there wanting to adopt children, that if you could remove children from a home and put them in Foster Care young enough, they might get adopted ... if not, then they are stuck in that system and we are still footing the bill ...
The problem is, that once people get into this cycle of handouts ... is that there seems to be little incentive to get off of it ... Back up to my question about the Work-Fare program ... was that ever implemented in any way or did they kill it ?
I have no answer ... and I see none that aren't without their faults ... current system stinks and IS abused ... but, I would hope , especially in these tough economic times that there are those that genuinely need a hand up, will not abuse the system and could still keep their right to vote even if they are poor and up against it ...

The big problem here is the Great Society created a culture and a class of leeches. It is going to take a backbone to fix this problem and one of the first things policitians undergo upon reaching office is a spine-ectomy.
