Noooo! GERONIMO's thrown out some bait for the right-wingers on HB to see if any might support Brother Pat. I won't take the bait, but I will say that Haiti was the armpit of the Western Hemisphere before the quake.... and after we dump billions into that cesspool, it will continue to be one the most corrupt countries on our planet. The people in power will line their pockets (once again) while the guy on the street will be treated like the dirt on your floor.

The place should be evacuated, leveled and then let us start over...annex it, build some casinos and golf courses, and it'll all be good...

CarolinaFan, he would have to work his way up to be an idiot. Regarding one of the most corrupt, I think our neighbor to the south definitely takes the cake on that one.

Oh I know that, just having a little fun with the G-Man. Obama is welcoming the distraction of Haiti, I'm sure. I wonder if we are going to borrow more Chi-Com money so we can then give it to Haiti  Bro Pat reminds me of Gore.

Sorry Dugout & Joe ... I really wasn't casting out any bait ... it was slow here at the Pub and when I read this, I felt certain we could all agree on what a hose head this guy is ...

What's interesting is that the Haitian "pact with the devil" rumor has been around for a long, long time. Pat Robertson didn't invent it; he merely has the lack of intelligence to believe it (or lack of desire to learn the truth). I recently read a very detailed and well-researched article written in October 2005 by a Haitian-American Christian pastor. Basically his premise is that the rumor is based on misunderstandings of the Haitian culture of the time, and spread by Christian missionaries who relied on the French colonial powers for support. It's a fascinating article and will really make you think about how Christian missionaries contributed to colonialism.

Part One: http://www.blackandchristian.com/articl ... 0-05.shtml

Part Two: http://www.blackandchristian.com/articl ... 1-05.shtml

Part Three: http://www.blackandchristian.com/articl ... 2-05.shtml

And for the record, I am a devout Christian who rarely agrees with anything Pat Robertson has to say.
