Now I lay me down to sleep...one less terrorist this world does keep...with all my heart I give my thanks...to those in uniform regardless of ranks...you serve our country and serve it well...with humble hearts your stories tell...so as I rest my weary eyes...while freedom rings our flag still flies...you give your all, do what you must...with God we live and God we trust

OTB --- You're assurances give me no comfort based on the original "prayer" post. Spiritual Jingoism at it's very best. I wonder if that prayer includes this honorable soldier who warned us long ago.

My prayer is ..
Instead of praying for death to the terrorists hiding under our beds waiting to attack us in our sleep..
Instead of the superficial act of waving flags and sticking yellow ribbons to our cars..
Instead of trying to spread "democracy around the globe" at the point of a gun while citizens do nothing here at home to maintain our constitutional republic...
we would all be better off if we learned from those that came before us.

Saturday Sept. 17 is Constitution Day. I pray that every American reread and remind themselves that this document is supposed to be the Supreme Law of the Land.
The "war on terror" has created a culture of fear in America. I pray for this ERA to end.

Well sfb, my prayer is that you would take some reading comprehension classes. Your document is 80 pages, my post is 3 lines and even my 7 year old grandkid read and said there was no where that we were "praying for death to the terrorists". So I pray, go back, read the 3 lines and try to understand. If needed , I can provide pictures if that would help you understand those big words. I felt the same way President Bush said he did, that he felt no joy at OBL dying - regardless of his demented view on our world, OBL was still a man with a family. And your idiotic mention of being afraid of who is under your bed, there are more than a few folks that dont see it that way, but of course, they are not as brilliant nor articulate as you.
