We're having a semantical disconnect, so I will try to clarify my position. There is no doubt in my mind either that Obama's motives are pure. I, like you, am sure that he wants to make America "better."

The problem is that his vision of a better America is inspired and informed by a lifetime of hard-left associations and a hard-left philosophical compass. He advocates "change" so vociferously precisely because he rejects the value systems that most citizens in this country (correctly) associate with America. Obama is a socialist, weened on the knees of hard-core socialists. So while he won't intentionally do harm to this country in his view, he certainly intends do harm to this country when his intended actions are viewed through the lens of historical American values. By that standard, he is un-American.

To analogize, the American Communist Party wants to make America better too. Problem is, their view of "better" involves a categorical rejection of everything that America stands for. How can that not make them un-American?

It is understandable that you haven't spent much time interacting with people of this ilk. They want nothing to do with you, and they don't spend their time in middle America or with middle class Americans (who they revile). No, these people gravitate to positions of influence, because they want to change the world. They've got a vision of the future that is better than your vision. But it's a vision that you would never willingly accept, so they go where they can shove it down your throat. They become lawyers, judges, professors, journalists and politicians. They work for political action groups and charitable foundations. They work in bureaucratic agencies and the government. And from there they steal your liberty, they steal your property, and they slowly but inexorable impose their values on you.

What percentage of lawyers, judges, educators, journalists, politicians and (non-military) government employees do you think support liberal causes and candidates? The number is overwhelming. Why do you suppose that is? Why wouldn't the distribution be random? Because while conservatives and centrists are busy living their normal lives, leftists seek influence. We sleep while they whittle away wherever they are in a position to do so. And they've done a lot of whittling.
There is no charge for awesomeness
...or attractiveness.
