Platoon. Full Metal Jacket blows it away on every level.
The Godfather. Excellent movie, but not even the best gangster movie of all time (that would be Miller's Crossing, imo), let alone the best movie. Also overrated in that genre--Goodfellas.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Blech!
The Crying Game. Double Blech with a splash of projectile vomit on top!
Natural Born Killers. Basically unwatchable.
The Godfather. Excellent movie, but not even the best gangster movie of all time (that would be Miller's Crossing, imo), let alone the best movie. Also overrated in that genre--Goodfellas.

Add Eyes Wide Shut to that list. I watched it again recently, knowing more about what it was supposedly about, and it still sucks IMHO.

"Lost in Translation" with Bill Murray. I kept waiting for something, ANYTHING to happen and it NEVER DID! I rank it just above "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", the only movie (paid for) that I got up and walked out of.

You are so right with that stupid Broke Back Mountain. I should have put it on my list. Godfather is a great movie for one thing. If you are having a problem sleeping, put in the tape/DVD and presto. You are snoring away.
Others that outright sucked or very over rated:
Tango and Cash
Unforgiven
Slither
Snakes on a plane
Slum dog millionaire
