I've never really done this, but everyone seems to be talking about helmet contact as we enter into the new season. Here's a pretty good video explaining a lot of the terminology and a little glimpse into the training that officials receive. Particularly for all you armchair referees, at least learn the terminology so you don't sound stupid as you yell at your TV.

I don't care whether you buy into the head trauma issue or not. This is an issue that could very well spell the end of youth/high school Football if we don't get out in front of this thing. High school Football is the last great team sport, it's a game I love, it's a game that has given me so much, in terms of friends, experiences, people I've got to meet, places I've been, etc. We need to be good stewards of the game and make sure it's here for for future generations. And yes when played properly it's a violent game. At any rate, here's the video, if you guys would like to see more, I can do that.
