Don't throw Uno under the bus - his post was accurate. The problem was/is with your reading comprehension.
Uno wrote:OBama is a complete moron, he gave up six lives and turned over 5 very dangerous taliban scum bags and a undisclosed amount of money for a service man who ran off and quit.

JR wrote:PDad you are right on that why waste a rescue for a deserter

That was the military's position. However, Bergdahl hasn't been proven guilty yet, which is why he has been promoted from private to sgt while in captivity. Regardless of whether he is a deserter or not, the mission could have served as a deterrent.

Not throwing Uno under the bus- you are right that it was my misstake and confusion- it happens- My apologies Uno it was not my intent

Found this from Newsweek- lays out the facts in a seeminly apolitical way:

http://www.newsweek.com/truth-behind-bo ... ?piano_t=1

It amazes me time and time again how this administration's lack of attention to detail causes them issues. It seems sometimes that the best strategy for Republicans is to get out of the way and watch him screw up again and again( should guarantee them control of both houses)

Also not sure how a recue mission here would have been a detterent- seem it appears this soldier seeked the Taliban out

It certainly met this definition -

One is thrown under the bus when they are made the scapegoat or blamed for something that wasn't their responsibility in the first place. A coverup for your mistake.

Good read...

Regardless of how the Taliban got ahold of Bergdahl, they were holding him hostage. How many Israelis have been held hostage in the last 40 years after Munich and Entebbe?

"Seeked" Common misconstruction of sought  Where did you go to school?

Considering their situation, only having 1-2 hostages taken in 30-35 years after Munich and Entebbe is a win.

I prefer to pay or trade for these deserters.
Red wine and dark chocolate moose souffle.
Port desert wine with cream burly..
Whiskey and peach cobbler or cherry pie..
Ale beer and vanilla ice cream.

Fancy stuff for a wabbit... I figured you were more of a tea-and-carrot-cake kind of guy.

Asked whether the Taliban would be inspired by the exchange to kidnap others, a commander laughed. “Definitely."

There is always tis side:

"Gilad Shalit was also the first captured Israeli soldier to be released alive in 26 years."

I am generally not in agreement with hostage exchanges because of the possible complications, but sometimes the alternatives are not so great either. Look what happened when the Russians stormed the school the Chetnyans were holding

The thing that bothers me the most about this whole deal is who the trade was for and the message it sends. It also makes it look as though the administration is(once again) clueless in international affairs

Prisoner swaps have been used for centuries and in every war. The concept gets murkier when dealing with non-state opponents or wiith former regimes(ie taliban)

Perhaps the deserter was delusional and thought the bearded enemy looked like this. https://scontent-a-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/hph ... 4484_n.jpg
Can we trade 5 Americans for the Marine in Mexico?
POTUS, Harry, Nancy, Biden, Holder.
or for one burrito.
