I believe the issue on the border, and no it's not a new problem, is a complete disregard for one of the blocks of the foundation of this country. The pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. GWB had to opportunity to deal with it and chose not to. BHO won't touch it because Hispanics vote D by a large majority. There is something inherently wrong in this country when people have to live in the kind of fear that some of these border citizens are having to live with.

Pale Rider, I came to the realization many years ago, that you need to take care of yourself. And over the years between team fees, hotels, and a bat here or there, I'm starting to amass a decent collection. I'm about to embark upon actually building a .458 Socom myself. Just the parts are a little pricey, so I'm going slow. I just ordered a Wilson Combat upper. It may be a little while before I finish however, I saw played with a Glock 21 over the weekend and always wanted a .45. So as soon as I can save a little rat hole money, I'm adding a Glock 21 to the collection.

FYI, I got my CC permit about 8 months ago. but I have yet to carry. I bought a Glock 27 specifically to carry if I ever chose to. I like the .40 caliber and it's small enough and light enough to carry, if I ever feel the need.

PR, I hear you on the 5.56. I may do a little boar hunting was the main reason for my thirst for a .458. And I'll admit, it's just cool. We don't really have a bear problem in southern Indiana, but if one pops up, I'll be ready.

Buddy of mine has a Saiga, I've shot it a few times. Local Rural King, which has an excellent choice of firearms and runs some pretty sweet sales, had MKA1919's on sale last fall for 525. I picked one up, I figured for 525 I couldn't go wrong on a semi-auto shotgun. I've probably run about 300 rounds through it, it's a fun gun. Although it does kick like a mule. I actually just took it to the shop last week to get her gussied up a bit. Changing out the spring, piston, forend, and going with a Magpul type stock.

Aftermarket goodies are becoming a lot more plentiful for this platform. This is what I keep around the house with 00 Buck. I haven't found any drum mags for it yet, but there are all kinds of rumors on the net. I'm just curious if you've shot a Saiga with a drum, how heavy are they?

Have not shot a Saiga...It is heavy, but thats not a bad thing as 20 rounds of rapid fire 12 gauge would be a hand full
Best thing about it...usual capacity on a shotgun is five...not so with a Saiga...10 round mag and a 20 round drum available...under 25 yards...as long as bad guys first shot misses...I will win...
IMHO, a plain old 870 20 gauge is great home protection...low recoil easy handling...Use #6s or #4s...wont penetrate numerous walls like buckshot...Close quarters a shotgun is better than a pistol or a rifle

Seen videos of 458 smacking hogs...

Because she can't decide.
