Tough to watch. Many of us have young drivers we love. Maybe something to watch and consider this holiday season. Stay safe.

With my DD getting her permit last week, this brings the reality to view.
Thanks

Powerful video...worst I ever saw which was real but on video was of 3 kids in a car that was engulfed in fire, all 3 were on fire...one was trying to go thru hole in the windshield...they were basically melting...horrible even to see on video...

Now with that said...
WE are our kids mirror, they see what we do and emulate that...and HONESTLY I don't text anymore when Im driving...that's why its a phone...and I don't even talk when I'm in traffic...my traffic is a LOT different than my CA friends...traffic that most of yall drive in EVERYDAY...
I have a LOT more experience than my kids do behind the wheel...and its not safe for me to even do it...
Its dangerous...and I dont wanna die over a text message...

Drinking and driving?...give them the cold hard facts, take them to a morgue...My rule is, and I haven't used it btw is if you're drinking...call me...regardless of time...I will come get you...No questions asked or long boring talks...I would much rather go get a live drunk than go identify a dead body...and that's a rule for every kid I know...simply call me...and I will get you home...period...
So please be an example to your kids...and be honest with them and yourselves...

Great post Rider

Well said...I read about a statistic a few years back that most accidents happen within a few miles from your home. I would think it still holds true. It's just as important to be aware running to the store for a loaf of bread as it is going back to school or on a trip. Don't take anything for granted.

3 yrs ago, a friend of mine was driving his van to a ball game to watch his kid play...a HS softball game, his new wife was with him...He was passing a semi, probably way over the speed limit...he was an ex-cop and they all drive like nuts...
She said, he yelled 'OH S*&^" and jerked wheel to the right...van rolled several times...but roof maintained integrity...my friend was 6'5: way over 300#...and was ejected thru drivers window...well half way ejected and as van rolled it rolled on him...he died at the scene...his wife...who WAS buckled in went home that night with minor issues...
A week ago HIS daughter, who he was going to watch play that afternoon.... face was basically smashed flat in an accident...she wasnt wearing a belt either...

...something as simple as a damn seat belt...
Wished I could chew on his big ass one more time about him not wearing one or making his kids...

Pale Rider, the friend of mine that died 2 months ago, same deal. He had a stroke , and died before the impact, but neither he nor his 19 year old son had their seatbelts on. He considered that requirement a "violation of his personal freedom of choice" (*&(*%%*&&*. When he died, his foot jammed down on the gas , his son, before being ejected out the back window of the truck, saw the speedometer at 90. The 19 year old boy, now in rehab, broke his neck though no paralysis, and both hips. As their vehicle crossed over the median and caused another accident with two cars going the other direction, they went into the ditch and flipped multiple times. All three cars were totalled, the occupants in the other two cars, walked away, after un snapping their seat belts. Steve was already dead before impact, his boy, following dad's example will suffer for the rest of his life. My last message to him , a week or so before he died, "was please get your axx in to the doctor and find out what is going on with you". His response, "FU, lol, I will when I get a few minutes. Later dude." Its later. Single dad, 14 year old daughter, sweet as the day is long , 17 year old boy, 19 year old boy, all in great need of parents.
