Cheney also said "If you and I team up, we can be better than Obama." Image

Cheney's biggest disappointment is that the lies he tells these days don't result in charred cities and overflowing orphanages.

Obama is on the same team as Cheney despite what most ignorant Americans think.

WHo can forget this WHOPPER told by Cheney's buddy Rumsfeld on Meet the Press. Tim Russert never asking a hardball question about this ridiculous assertion.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGhGHxw0mSo

The absurd graphic placed Osama inside a bunker that would make Lex Luthor blush. The thing, tunneled as deep as the World Trade Center was built high, looks like a super duper hideaway I would have drawn up with magic marker as an 8-year-old: secret exits, booby traps, missile launcher caches, all deep enough in a mountainside to withstand bombardment and massive enough to hold 1,000 men.
So, yes, bad enough that the press' imagination ran wild with visions of Osama's MTV Cribs-worthy terror mansion. But even worse—it got a cosign from our Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, who on Meet the Press, frothed at the mouth with Osama-huntin' excitement.

Otay Panky ... I've been waiting for someone to liken this to Hillary's lie about her aircraft taking fire ...

Close enough - it was sniper fire at an airport. Here's the real scoop...

One rainy evening, three people walked into a bar and sat down. One was grim, another solemn, while the sole woman among them was absolutely giddy. The bartender poured a few shots of whiskey and said to the trio, “Why so grim, so solemn, so giddy?”

The grim man with squinty eyes and a huge forehead went first. “My life is over. I ‘conflated’ a couple of war stories, said I was aboard a helicopter in Iraq that got shot down when I wasn’t. Now, everything I’ve worked for my whole life is gone.”

“Gee, that’s tough,” said the bartender.

The even more-horse-faced solemn man next to him went next. “I said I won a bunch of medals for honor and bravery as captain of a fast patrol boat in Vietnam, but then all my comrades swiftly said I was lying. I lost the job I really wanted.”

“Damn. Rough. What about you, lady?” the bartender said to the broadly smiling blonde.

“Ha! I once lied and said I outran sniper fire in Bosnia. They even had videotape of me walking calmly across the tarmac to meet a little girl who gave me a poem — a poem! And I’m probably going to be the next president of the United States!”

From my hometown paper

The question I have in these situations is why? What do you have to gain with these exagerations? Was not flying and being in a combat zone enough? Was not haveing a helicopter near you heit enough? I guess you need to be egocentric to become an anchorman etc,,,,, but this just seems beyond thepale.

The only half-excusable explanation I can come up with is it started with other people misremembering the story and he went along their distortions as time went by instead of continually correcting them. However, I think the real reason is it made a better story to tell in private conversations and public appearances. Seriously, it's fairly common for people to exaggerate their involvement in stories. The only thing different about this case is he did it so publicly and had so much to lose when caught.

I wonder whether he will be back in the anchor's chair after 6 months. The only thing in Brian's favor is NBC doesn't have an heir apparent. Perhaps NBC is hiring Jon Stewart - last night he announced he's leaving The Daily Show.
