High School playoffs

I know the stats on MaxPreps are frequently questionable, and from what I've seen of HS ball, the defenses tend to be a bit sloppy compared to ASA ball (especially at the beginning of the season). My guess, from not having seen a single Whitney game, is that it took a little while for the coaching staff and/or the catchers to figure out what worked for Taylor, and when they did, they got a lot tougher to beat. I know she decided to play ASA last year (Sorcerer) rather than HS ball (I think they wanted her to play JV), so they might not have really known what she could do. I've seen that nasty change-up at Extra Innings often enough to know she could throw it every other pitch and make a team look silly.

As far as Casa goes, I'm only surprised because the coach was not optimistic after tryouts. She's a great coach, and I bet she's been working with her sophomore pitcher (Garcia) every day with results. Garcia, fellow Soph Aguilar and freshman Aubert (who was with the 96 Breeze, I don't know where she is now) have the three highest BA on the team. I haven't seen the other two live, but Aubert was terrifying with the Breeze.

Congratulations to Sheldon, Casa Roble, and Rodriguez on winning their divisions in the San Joaquin Sections.

Okay all you naysayers, what did i possibly say that was wrong? You judge somebody by the number of posts they have? My job/life doesn`t afford me the opportunity to have 900+ posts. Slap/singles hitters will always play a major role in this game, but Sheldon had at least 4 girls that were a threat to go yard. That worked out pretty well for them. As far as their league, find me another one that has a pitcher on a 4th place team that`s going to a Pac 10 school on a full ride. I was attempting to offer an explanation as to why Watchtons would appear to be attacking Elk Grove`s coaching staff, there`s not much love lost between the Breeze and Lady Magic organizations. I do like most of what he says, but at times he posts with bias, as pretty much all of us do.

That said, awesome job by Sheldon, Casa, and Rodriguez! I am very fortunate to know girls on nearly every team that competed over the last week. The girls get it, everyone that i personally know is gracious, well mannered and respectful off the field, and competitively classy on it. It`s we adults that get it twisted. Now, on to travel ball. How in the hell is Lady Magic 18 gold ever going to lose?
