For what I believe is the first time in history, two NorCal softballers are among the final three players in contention for Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. Cal redshirt senior pitcher/utility Valerie Arioto and Oklahoma junior pitcher Keilani Ricketts, both former Sorcerers, along with Arizona State senior shortstop Katelyn Boyd, were announced as finalists yesterday. The winner of college softball's most prestigious award will be announced May 29. Arioto was previously selected as this season's Pac-12 Player of the Year and Ricketts Big 12 Player of the Year. Kudos and good luck to Valerie and Keilani!
