But also they need to accept the role asked of them. My kid made the mistake of accepting something she ultimately didn't want to do and regretted it. She learned. She'll be better for it, too.

There are a few teams at the 14u level that are having tryouts this weekend. Seems most teams already had tryouts and teams are formed. How do these teams having late tryouts do picking up quality players or are they too late and end up struggling all season? Daughter ended up in a situation where she is now looking for a team. A little concerned and trying to do our homework.

You're starting off well by asking questions! That's a good start to your homework.

Be objective about where she is as a player and think about the teams you played against last season. Any of those a good fit?

Read the tryouts info here, on DF, on ASA Tournaments, and look at team sites. See what's being advertised. If they're looking for just one more player, it could be just a body needed. If they specifically need a middle IF and yours is one, could be a good fit.

Put the word out to your softball friends that your daughter's looking for a home. Let someone else advocate for her, too.
