Norcal 10 under ranking???

by newbie69 » Thu Mar 08, 2012 8:25 am

I see everyone is talking and ranking the 2 out of the 3 age groups that are playing right now. What's happening in the 10's? Who are the teams to beat? Ranking?

Well, the NorCal parents sure get alot of mileage out of the 12U rankings - 3 pages. So what's the difference? These are 12 and 13 year old girls.

I will help the 10s out. I got to watch some games last weekend in Folsom.

1 Mizuno All American Cervellin
in a league of their own in Nor cal. Very well coached. Running bases well. .Hitting well and a solid pitching staff. This team will be one of the 10's teams going to Nationals. Its up to the rest for the other birth.

2 Lady Spartans
Solid #1 pitcher. Don't let the size of #10 fool you... Hits her spots and doesn't get rattled. This team will compete with all of them and compete strong. Watching Sunday I would say the coaches need to set feelings aside and coach to win on Sunday. Cant leave 10 on the bench and let a team come back on you. Don't save them for the Champ game gotta get there first. Good hitting, descent fielding.

3 AASA
Great coaching been there done that. They will have this team fighting for the top spot in no time. aggressive base running, learning small ball which at tens is hard to defend.

4 KG Hitters
Made big strides since Fall. Couple lucky breaks but 3 and 0 Saturday and made it to the Champ game can't knock that. They were in it with Cervellin to the end.

5 thru 10 is kinda a blurr at this point not enough games played yet to tell. I will say one thing though for a team that I see as a rec team in A ball uniforms the Breeze coaches and quite a few of their parents are sure proud of themselves. This is the best time to teach the girls to respect the game yet in order to do so you need to respect it yourselves.

Updated Nor Cal 10U rankings

1. Mizuno All American-Cervellin
Agree for now as they beat KG Hitters in championship game on a Sunday by one run in a good game a month back, but I do believe KG Hitters are a better all-around and deeper team. This Mizuno team has been playing together for allot longer than most of the other 10 teams in this post and it shows. Deep line up, could use some speed. Good pitching and well coached team. Best team in fall and haven’t been beat in Norcal (to my knowledge) yet in this early season so they get the #1 nod for now.

2. KG Hitters
Speed, athleticism, hit well, deep pitching staff, big improvement from fall, they beat the Spartans twice in fall and once already this year? Doesn't make sense to have Spartans ranked higher even if their “number 1” was on the bench in semi-final. Tournament and game coaching is a big part of who makes the Sunday grade and the rankings. Luck is also a part of this game. Won the championship in the gold bracket in ASA Mizuno All American Invitational tournament this past weekend beating Nevada Comets.

3. San Jose Sting
Probably have the best pitcher in Norcal today. Lefty with velocity and a change-up. Tough to beat this team with her in the circle when she is hitting spots. They did go 0-2 in Mizuno tournament, but they are better than that. Won USSSA big League tournament with win over Dirt Dogs.

3. Nevada Comets-Well coached team that has been playing together for a year or two. Beat Spartans in semi-final game this past weekend and went on to play KG hitters tough in championship game.

4. Lady Spartans
Good Team, improvement from fall.

5. AASA
Good speed, athleticism, play small-ball well. Really haven’t seen allot of them, but hope to…

Justhavefun01,

These are nice.......and funny, however if you are going to present your information you might want to check your stats a little more deeper before issuing your report. BTW what are you basing this on? W-L, head to head, tourneys played, level of competition, knowledge of teams, knowledge of coaches, etc, etc. Take care.

Okay so let me try this again since the parents or coaching staff of KG Hitters (Justhavefun01) have this so wrong. Please keep in mind when ranking teams you need to look at the entire body of work and not just a weekend’s play. Any team can make a championship game or even win a tourney. Those who go deep every week deserve the respect they get. I have no dog in this fight so I am not biased one way or another.

1 Mizuno All American Cervellin
In a league of their own in Nor cal. Very well coached. Running bases well. .Hitting well and a solid pitching staff. This team will be one of the 10's teams going to Nationals. It’s up to the rest for the other birth.

2 Lady Spartans
Solid #1 pitcher. Don't let the size of #10 fool you... This team will compete with all of them and compete strong. Gotta beat the best to stay up top and looks like they did beating Cervellin on Saturday then losing in the Champ Game today. Anyone know the score???

3 AASA
Great coaching been there done that. They will have this team fighting for the top spot in no time. Aggressive base running, learning small ball which at tens is hard to defend.

4 KG Hitters
I am going to keep you in the top 5 because you won the last one however a 1 win 2 loss weekends will not help your team in the future. Made big strides since Fall.

5 Benicia Fired Up
This team has played really well in the tourneys I have seen as well as a multi INT game against KG a few weeks back. 2 pretty good pitchers and the bats seem to be coming around. This team will grow and get better every week as the season goes on.

6 Nevada Comets
Great group of young players have done well over the last few tournaments. This team fights hard and battles every game. This team to has made great strides since fall.

7 – 10 Folsom Freedom, CA Breeze, Rebels Elite, Mizuno Ybarra are all kind of a blur from 7-10 at this point.
I like the little Red head pitcher for Folsom Freedom hopefully this team continues to learn to play D behind her. Looks like they had a few wins this weekend until they bumped into Cervellin.

Breeze is getting better each week looks like they won 3 this weekend beating KG as well today keep this up and you will be sliding up the board in no time.

Mizuno Ybarra Not sure what to think here??? New team but they look like they have been able to put a few wins together as well as a Silver Champ game in the All American tourney. Brand new team and winning breads confidence.

Rebels Elite played well in the All American tourney. Looks like they struggled this weekend however being that they are a new team and learning I will give them some props after all they did beat Justhavefun01’s # 3 a few weeks ago.

10s is a learning time for the teams and parents don’t forget to enjoy. In no time you will be visiting your DD in So Cal wishing she was 10 all over. (Just as I was this weekend) Not sure what worse knowing she is getting older or that I am LOL!!!

I guess because you posted on here once before we should assume you are the expert on the entire 10U division?
If you don't have a dog in the fight you feel like you have to go out and create one?

I guess any Tom, Dick or Harry can come online and say that they made a rankings and it isn't based on one tournaments results but how deep they feel a team is, but it is wrong on several levels, and doesn't make them right.

These girls are 10U, no need to rank teams, my bet is a lot of the kids you see playing there won't even be in this game after they turn 14.

Why should we care what some random person ranks team? Are you handing out free money?
I give a rat's poop about your little rankings.

I see you care enough to create a new user name and post with much anger???   Option A: KG Supporter Option B: Your team is lower on the list then you would like.

From day one on this site teams have been ranked from 10u all the way up thru. I don't think any of the people ranking teams would say they are the expert, it is just ones opinion. I thought the Junkie ranking was a much better ranking then the "lets compare all teams to KG Hitters Ranking" that Justhavefun01 posted. Junkie normally does a pretty good job with an unbiased opinion when it comes to rankings. I would agree that many of these girls will be done by 14. That being the case should we stop keeping score and give out participation medals to every player at the tourney under 14. This is still Travel Ball correct??
