NO BRAINER!!!
While I am surprised by this entire post. What does it really matter where one team decides to play? Grapettes, Breeze, Dirt Dogs, AASA, etc... Teams looking for COMPETITION will go to where they have the best chance to play the best teams. Just like teams who want to win a t-shirt or metal will seek out a tournament where they have the best chance of winning and that doesn't always include the top competition, unless your team is the best and you're filling up your trophy cabinet.

Whether it's a 10u team or an 18 Gold team, shut up and leave it on the field. This is beyond ridiculous and I am just as stupid for wasting 5 minutes that I'l never get back because I chose to post on here.

What teams are paid for Garys tournament? Or are they just penciled in?

Well Grapettes Norwood is no longer listed in Garys Tournament so it looks like they will support R&R and play in stockton. You would think they would want to play the best teams rather be in a tournament you know you will win.

This doesn't surprise me as the Norwood team has shown little interest in playing anywhere were the top 10 teams are playing. They have lost two players so far this year and own have posted additional try-out on HB. The two tournaments they played in were a combination of 99 and weaker 98 teams. Thay have two championships but as was said early they knew they would win going in.

I dont think she looks at tourney entries and then decides where to play. She does her schedule and that is that.

Why would anyone care where that team plays? It is their business.

Earlt in the season teams should look to get in as many games as possible, and the level of the competition is not always relevant. With new players to teach, innings is all that matters.

When we first moved up here younger DD was playing 12's. From playing against her teams (aside from the boom box - no big deal really, just not my personal cup of tea), it was very clear that the Norwoods knew how to coach younger kids. They could all lay down a bunt, they committed few errors relative to their peers, always took the extra base if it was there. Somehow the way those teams played (haven't seen 12Us a quite a while) and the fact that she still keeps going without her Mom, I rather doubt she is going through the team lists with a fine tooth comb to make her decisions on where to play.

I think anybody's DD would be better off for the long term playing for Coach Norwood for a year or two. Don't know whether or not DD would have made her team at the time had she tried out but it seemed too far for us to drive for practices etc. Seems a pretty silly thought now!

I agree with blue..grapes schedule is pre-planned..norwood 12s have always been the team that chased the best competition. If you have followed softball in this area in the last ten years you will know they were the first 12 team to go down south in the fall and to oklahoma for the hall of fame qualifier. Does anybody remember that norwood team from three years ago ?..what a team..all playing gold now..set the standard for teams to follow in planning strategy ..take some notes...matter of fact they always play up an age group locally.

From my understanding, Norwoods spring/summer schedule has been pretty much planned out since December. Its been out on their website for quite sometime now. I been following her teams for awhile and know for a fact that she doesn't shy away from competition. She does what she likes and does what she feels is best for HER team. If you disagree, you could simply check last year as well as years past and see that she consistently have an agressive schedule and plays in a lot of competitive 14u tourneys.

I've noticed that her team has participated in some weaker tourneys but like what has already been stated, those tourneys were already set in stone. You gotta give her team credit for still taking care of business. If they lost, than that would definitely be something to talk about.

A couple of sources told me that they were scheduled to play 14u in this past weekends grape tourney but was asked by the TD to stay down in 12u to prevent canceling that division. I believe they'll be in Las Vegas this weekend with national caliber competition and in Huntington Beach two weeks later. I don't think you do that kind of travelling to shy away from the competition.

With that said, as a fan, I would still like to see her team play in the Sac tourney instead of RR Golds, but that's her team and her prerogative. Its still early and I'm sure the top teams in norcal will eventually meet, but to say she's avoiding the competition is to say the least, silly :geek: Again, her schedule is out and if some teams want to see where they stack up they should enter in those same tourneys.

Running away from what?? Quit stirring the pot already!! Who are the paid teams in Garys Tournament anyway? No one really knows who's going where until your team is paid!! Let's see how it all shakes out come Memorial Day!! Does one tournament dictate that your running away??
