Tryouts for Returning Players

I agree with Blue.
Here are my thoughts If they are on the bubble, no need they have a good chance at staying, if they are the bottom 1 or 2 they probably already know and are planning on leaving. If they are a top player and a surprise comes it is normally the parents not the player.

If a parent is having their DD make the run thru tryouts they are doing 1 of 2 things, looking or getting dirt. Unless you are using your DD as a decoy so you can get the dirt on who is at each teams tryouts nobody enjoys driving around field to field doing tryouts. For those few who do actually enjoy using tryouts as a workout or like getting the scoop, honesty goes a long way. I know this is a 2 way street but if the coach has shown they are straight with you try being straight with them you might be surprised, honesty goes a long way. My daughters coach has no issues with his players going to tryouts as "workouts" when they are straight up about it. When they go behind his back and try to play him like an idiot the hammer normally comes out and it doesn't matter who it is...

Unfortunately every tryout some parent makes the mistake of trying to play both sides of the fence with coaches and gets dumped by both. When your sitting on the fence comparing which field is greener be careful they might turn off the water on both fields...
