Well, it's been a great season of Norcal softball so far. The season is coming close to an end for some and others are beginning their run at qualifiers or looking for championship play.

As we near the back-end of the season, I think it's a great idea for teams to reflect on the progress they have made throughout the season.

Some teams have been consistently good and some teams have been consistently getting better. IMO, if a team/player finishes the season better than they started and has a great time while doing so, then that's the definition of success, no matter where they end up on the TDBFR.

Tenshun Props: OBS Monarchs started the season as an unknown entity. They've taken their lumps, but they have grown as a team and shown great improvement throughout the season. Hats off for putting the hard work and effort in.

OBS is doing a great job. They picked up a girl that really helped them out big on defence. They should never be under estimated. But than again...no team should. Does anyone know who won the RR tourny????

I agree that you never underestimate a team.... EVER, but seeing how I own the Monarchs teams, I have no problems being honest about their chances against Smash.

They are a nice team that is showing big improvement, which is EXACTLY what I wanted to see from a team that is VERY young. But I have also seen enough of both teams to ... oh, lets say keep it real. Would I love to see it happen? Hell yes....

It was RR Gold vs. Lady Sharks in the ship, with RR Gold getting the W.

Congratulations to all the weekends winners!

RR Gold 1st place - RR Tourny

OBS Monarchs 1st place - DF Martinez Tourny

Tri-County Smash 1st place - Vegas Tourny

I am the head coach for the OBS Monarchs 12U. Yes, these girls have come a long way, especially in the last several weeks.

I will say this.....every single one of of the girls on my team have a strong desire to compete, play hard, and not roll over. Their drive and determination has gotten them far this year. And their heart is in this thing we call a team. They have come together as a team very nicely in my opinion.

I could not be more proud of my "girls of summer".

Squeeze, I love hearing that, especially as a 12's coach. When its all said and done and you look back with this current team, ask yourself did we not only improve the softball skills of these kids, but did we show them how to compete (win or lose), and to lastly carry over the desire and the love of the game to the next level. Good job coach

Stuck around for this game thinking Monarchs V Stompers would be a good game. It was nip and tuck the first 4 innings before Monarchs took advantage. Great win Monarchs! Thought it was a bit off not seeing Stompers #1 on the mound for the Final though...why'd they burn her in the semi's knowing Monarchs were waiting for them...head coach didn't make it til the final half of the game though, I wonder if he would've done the same.

Thanks for the kind words! Value for a player, IMHO, is not the number of wins you have in the season, but how much the girls improved in the skills and the love of the game. It is teaching them to both Win and Lose with pride, dignity, and a sense of knowing they gave their all on the field.

My passion as a coach is seeing each young lady develop into a better softball player, play the game using their head, and while playing hard against their competition, still give each and everyone involved in this great sport the respect and consideration that all of us should both give and receive.

No matter what ranking system and position our OBS Monarchs 12U team is in, I am totally convinced we hit all the nails on the head. Are we perfect? NOBODY IS, but in my book, we have been successful in the points I mentioned above.

Best to all of you both on and off the field!

GameTimer 23 ranking as of 5/31…will update after this weekend Metros!!!

#1- Smash- Force, 14’s and Memorial Day winner. Team will make a deep run at nationals or westerns.

#2-Sorcerer98- Great pool play in 14’s, but got beat on Monday. They got a true taste what 14’s is all about. Would be better served playing top #12 first. Limited and young pitching starting to show. Will make deep run in Reno Triple crown.

#3. Grapes RV-better and better each game. This teams shows up and will play anybody. Could have a good run at nationals or westerns.

#4.Hotshots- Played a few top teams and won. Injuries and limited pitching set them back in championship game vs. smash. Great showing and will do well at Reno Triple Crown.

#5. D Doggs98- I love these kids, but had some issues this weekend. They will pull it together and move up as season goes on. Maybe a little too much so cal?

#6. Breeze98- they looked a little off to me this weekend. Losing a top player is starting to show and coaches seem to be on edge. Still a great team and coaches and will make a good run at nationals.

#7-AASA- Playing 14’s & beat grapes 14’s & Stars, 6-2 and won Silver bracket and beat breeze98. Team is really starting to gel and 99’s are playing big roll. (2) Stud #1’s pitchers help.

#8.Grapes SN-really hard to judge and haven’t scene very much of them, but they beat R&R 99 and won championship. Will need to play and beat top team to move up at all.

#9. R&R Gold99- I love these kids. Seem to play well vs. older teams and down to younger ones. This will be top U12 in 2012.

#10. Foothill Gold- Not a big fan and think they peaked a month ago. Will need to beat top teams to move up, my guess it will be down.

#11. Stompers98- Stud coach and solid players. Coach will always keep kids in the game and get the most out of the talent he has. As 10’s this was a stud team, but most have left.

#12. Storm98- Playing RR tourney and losing to MoJo doesn’t help at all. I could see them following off the map. Peaked too soon?

HM-Intensity, Blast, Breeze99, Hype98 ,Sting & OBS
