12U Spring/Summer Ranking

by sofbal1234 » Mon Jun 20, 2011 8:15 am

@ Tenshun... I don't see the hate in any of these previous posts, just people defending against a couple of cocky southlanders who DO like stirring up the pot like myself at times :? I think sitonthebench is just over curious and is trying to lure smash down so he can see what’s up with all the hype about this team called smash (IMO). On that note, they should head up there and see for themselves as we did. On the other side of the coin and as I said b4... it wouldn't be a bad idea for their team to get beat by a couple top teams down here (which is very possible and likely) to see how they respond to defeat and to see where their weeknesses are so they can better prepair for Nats or Westerns. Could be a MAJOR benefit for smash in the near future. And as always, that's JMHO and as we all know, that doesn't mean much... Good luck smash!

My comment wasn't directed at those guys defending themselves. It was directed at folks who are hating just because teams are good or receive compliments.

Fact is, these teams don't don't need to defend themselves. The way they play says it all.

I agree....The South called the Nor Cal teams out. But it's all good in fun and play. That is fine I actually love it. When can you remember So Cal people in the Nor Cal board calling out teams to come play? I like it!!!! :D

The good natured ribbing between NorCal and SoCal has and always will be around, it's just what we do...i.e. Giants and Dodgers. Everyone in NorCal is very aware of the talent in SoCal. We played in the 10u Nationals in Bloomington, IN in 2009 and watched Team Smith Blue and CA battle it out for the Championship...4 of the top 5 teams that year came out of SoCal...this is the same age group we are currently seeing. We will be playing as many of the top 14u NorCal teams as we can to prepare for the speed of Nationals...we don't feel that we are a lock against anyone, but we will compete and do everything possible to beat you. To be honest, when a NorCal team beats a SoCal team, it is used as motivation and for bragging rights. It is not in our financial budget to make anymore trips before Nationals, we are a small town start up team that will be fundraising a bunch to ensure all of our girls can make the trip. Good luck to all teams that will be going to a National Tournament, it is a great accomplishment...it has been a fun ride so far.

GameTimer 23 ranking as of 6/20.....

#1- Smash- Force, Vegas & GSJA Metros 1st place. Team will make a deep run at nationals. Smash stay in your lane (nationals) and let the hater's hate. You have come a LONG way since fall. Team loaded with Stud players and #1 coaching staff.

#2-Sorcerer98-won 14's Bash,3rd place NSA Nor Cal hit a bump (loss to sting 4-1) on fri, but rolled EVERYBODY after that sooring 61-2 in next 5 games). Limited and young pitching starting to show. Will make deep run in Reno Triple Crown. Keep up the good work.

#3. Grapes RV- This teams shows up and will play anybody. 1st Place Sac ASA. Could have a good run at nationals or westerns.

#4. Breeze98-Stud kids and coaching. 3rd place memorial day, 2nd place Sac ASA.Team will make a deep run at nationals or westerns.

#7-AASA- Vegas went 4-1 hit a bump on sunday. 1st place Oak metros. Team will need to finish the deal on sundays to make a competitive run at Nationals or Westerns. Good coaching, Stud #1 pitcher and 99's making an impact.

#8.R&R Gold99- I love these kids. Seem to play well vs. older teams. 1st place at J Classic. This will be top U12 in 2012.

#9. FootHill Gold/St. D-Well coached and very competitive team. Great run in Sac ASA for 3rd place finish. Could make a good run at Reno Tripple Crown.

#10. Lady Sharks- 2nd place J Classic (big win vs Grapes RV), NSA 1st place. Will need to beat top teams to move up & looks like they have arrived. Keep up the good work.

I think the Sharks 12u need to move up now. They have now beaten AASA, foothill Gold, placed way ahead of Sorcerer by Winning Norcal. They played an exceptional game against Storm and have now won against them twice. True, they haven't played Sorcerer but i now think they are up into the top 5.

Glad to see things are moving along here. Hope all the Smash haters stop with all the negatives. Thats what happens when your number one. The whole world is against you...lol.
But for some reason I think they ( Smash )wouldnt have it any other way...

Teshun..any movement on your ratings

Hunter....when did they beat AASA?

#2 Sorcerer was the only ranked team and played the match up with #3 pitcher on fri and it sent them to the loser bracket...didn't even beat sting or sorcerer top 2 teams in tourny.

Novato, Stars blk, M Force & salinas isn't close to a top #5 ranking...

But this weekend was a start. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the update on the Lady Sharks. You probably already know I've been a fan of this team for a while. They started the season strong and struggled a bit in the middle. Then they went back and worked on some things and now they are finishing the season even stronger than they started. Excellent showing of work ethic and heart.

I don't expect any huge changes in my ranking, but I think there will be a few updates. (I'll try to get it done in the next couple days.) It takes a bit more time since I started updating the rankings with all the win/loss records from the tournaments. I actually have to go to all the various websites or somehow get the actual results from word of mouth.
No courage. No game.
