Fresno looked good at the Grapes Tourney this past weekend. Too bad the rain showed up, I would have liked to see them play RR, AASA or Lady Magic.

I saw the West Bay Nuggets play against the Lady Magic and the Nuggets won 2-0. I think they will be a surprise to many in NorCal. They have a lefty Pitcher who throws hard and has good movement.

As high school draws to a close and the universe regains stability we find that not much has really changed. The early favorites remain and it really comes down to who's pitching is going to dominate and who gets the ball to take that magic hop on Sunday...

In the Stockton metro, look for Grapettes (CR) to still be the one. Breeze '96 is (supposed) to play there as well and fields some impressive bats but pitching is still in need. Rumor has it they may be keeping/recruiting/getting one...?

In Sac, if ASA waffles and allows the Breeze 96 to play there instead of Stockton, it'll be a tight race between Breeze '96, Breeze '95, Lady Magic and TNT. If ASA holds tough, it'll be Breeze '95, L/M and TNT in no particular order.

In the Bay Area, Sting and Sorcerers are still at the top with Sorcerers getting the nod on superior depth of pitching.

Others worth mentioning include of course Salinas Storm, Fresno Force and if they can land another pitcher... Roseville Heat.
Being from NorCal, what do I know anyway???

It's very early in the season. Most 14U teams are 8th grade teams. Still waiting for the HS players to return before anything of meaning happens. Of the teams that are playing now, Kiko's Sorcerer's look like one of the best team's in the area. Went down to Fresno and won it with some very good teams from SoCal and most of the current top NorCal teams currently playing. Four runs in Five tournaments isn't too shabby. Great pitching and defense. A very exciting team to watch. The Breeze has pretty exciting team to watch with some big bats. The Sting has a great pitcher and it will be interesting to see what they will do behind her. Grapettes old team hasn't started yet and will always be a factor. Not sure what the Lady Magic has to offer. An older and younger team? The team that went to Fresno played tough but I don't think they made it out of the quarter finals. Any other NorCal teams of any note?

Thanks..

Based on spring tournaments - Top 14u teams - before HS returns

1. Sorcerers - haven't lost a tournament/great pitching/solid everywhere
2. San Jose Sting - good showing in Fresno/top pitcher in area
3. Breeze 96 - good showing in LA tournaments - but losing top pitcher?
4. Fresno Force
5. Lady Magic
6. AASA
7. RR Gold DY
8. Roseville Heat
9. Grapettes DH

All subject to change once high schoolers return. Grapettes CR will be in the top, possible Breeze 95 also....... Any additions/changes?????

RR needs to be dropped to the bottom, if you notice in all thier tournaments they play the weakest team in pool play and get a #1 seed. Then when they play a good team the get beat everytime
